Had it cut up into a puzzle coin and just got it in the mail this week. Made sure that the "V.D.B." and the "1909" were left intact though, came out really well:

... I seem to recall contributing to this thread in the past and I was inspired by this morning's photo shoot.

This was always a great thread. Thanks for posting it again.

1909 CONECA VDDR-064. Formerly in a NGC 65 R&B holder. It's at PCGS now (Cracked out). Given the marks on the rev and what seems a dislike by PCGS for mixed alloy cents - I will consider myself lucky if I get a 63 R&B and not another Questionable Color slab.
There’s still hope it could return with a higher grade as is present with this improperly mixed cent.

Here's my worn but not-worn-out "Everyman" example...

Hey there, no, it’s on the coin…. I don’t know if it’s some type of very old pen attribution? But 1417 makes no sense in the context of this coin, at least to my knowledge, so I don’t truly know. It’s actually much more faint in hand, and does not appear to impact the planchet at all, it’s just a minor discoloration in an otherwise beautiful chocolate at least to my eye.
Regardless, the coin is simply gorgeous in hand, and based on the auction records those marks didn’t seem to bother Goldbergs, Bob Grellman, Pierre Fricke or CAC, and it doesn’t bother me at all.
