I used to have an MS65 of this die pairing, but like this one better. Eye appeal beats grade in my game. I was fascinated by the USS Monitor as a kid- built the model kit.

Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

I like the Monitor tokens, one funny ting though, many are dated 1863 but the Monitor was on the bottom of the ocean by then!

True, but subsequent ironclads were called “Monitor” as a generic term. So you had Monitors, plural.

F241, white metal. hard to find. (Broadstruck helped me find this one at a Baltimore show years ago)

@kaz Here is another 241. Not as cool as your's, but I like it because I also like the "Monitor" tokens. Unfortunately this is the only monitor I have. At least, it's graded as 66RB.

Some of these have that neat blue color kind of like some insanely toned Indian cents do.

I have had this one since the 1960's when I found it in a coin dealer's foreign coin box:

The reason I have this one is because my friend is related to Beirn.

Here's my motley little bunch, these are fun to collect, great cool-factor-to-price ratio and there are so many you could never get 'em all.

The "Good for a scent" people will like these two.
