It was sold slightly cleaned, but in hand it looks pretty nice. Thoughts? Not sure what to make. At least it is Gen...

Not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but that one looks suspect to me. Hope I'm wrong.

It's a counterfeit. Look at the defect above L of PLURIBUS.
Why do you think "it is Gen..."?

You could have bought this for $17.95 on Etsy.

I never comment on these, but that thing looks as fake as the Leprechaun living under my front porch.

Truly rare coins have diagnostics to look for re counterfeits. As others pointed out, this is one example. Color is off and I'll bet that coin isn't even silver (or if so, is silver plated).

Sorry but there are so many red flags on this one. The digits in the date look incorrect and the stars are mushy and misshapen. Return it and buy a certified example next time.

1--not the same coin. Again as said, look at the L with the die chip above and the one advertized does not have this but a smaller chip in the foot of the L. This may allow you to get a refund as a not as described coin. Good Luck. You definitely do not want it. JMO

There were red flags on ebay, too. It's absurd how they allow sellers like this to stay on their platform.

A local dealer bought one of the counterfeits claiming it was a good 'un. IMO it was just junk. They should be forced to get listed in the copy section.

Grandpa is not to be trusted. He called the pictured coin "uncirculated "? That alone would lead me to believe he can't be trusted.

    Yeah, definitely not.

It is interesting. Grandpa is a long time seller. Makes you wonder how many real vs fake coins he sells.

Grandpa needs prunes. What ridiculous and unnecessary abuse in his responses. Is that supposed to make us feel better about him? Lol

When did the requirement to stamp "copy" on the reverse of counterfeits change?

    Hear, hear!

Those of us afflicted with a combination of (i) I never, ever see the coin in person, and (ii) my grading skills are good but not worth risking the kind of money that coin would cost were it real, buy only certified coins when spending above our comfort level for taking risks.
