Following @TomB's display of choice Canadian "bullion" coins, here are some inexpensive Canadian dollars and a Newfoundland half off of eBay.
A seller there a few years back was auctioning decent lots of 10 halves or 10 dollars that would close for about twice bullion value at that time (usually for about $20 to $22 for each dollar on average). They would add a better date or two to each lot like a 1938 or 1946 dollar to make them interesting. They were great lots for filling an album, if Dansco made such an album. I regret not purchasing more of those lots considering the high price of silver these days.
I like the '46 (my birth year) dollar. I even inlayed one into the top of one of the canoe paddles that I made a few years ago. They are all done with just a spoke shave and a 2" piece of cherry. I even made a couple canes and walking sticks that way, but my '46 paddle with the dollar inlaid is my special one.

I just love photos of coins like @TomB's collection of really nice, original "bullion" coins. They remind me of those special moments over 60 years ago as a child when my grandparents would pull out a small jewelry box with perhaps some cufflinks and tie clasp, and a dozen or so old coins they had saved from circulation or dug up in their garden through the years. I can still remember the conversations, the smell of their homes and texture of their furnishings. What was the story behind that large Brazilian counterstamped copper? Or the 1782 Mexican 1 real with a hole in it? Coins and photos of coins such as TomB's above evoke such strong memories of those special moments for me.

I can still remember the conversations, the smell of their homes and texture of their furnishings. What was the story behind that large Brazilian counterstamped copper? Or the 1782 Mexican 1 real with a hole in it? Coins and photos of coins such as TomB's above evoke such strong memories of those special moments for me.
The album I have is just the dollar one. I suppose you could make your own dansco with a blank half dollar album. I have done the same thing with Canada quarters and dimes.
I won this one tonight at Heritage. Canada 1909-C Sovereign in SP-65. pop 4/0. PCGS has only graded eight specimen 1909-C sovereigns in total (2 in 63, 2 in 64, and 4 in 65). Scarcer than the 1911-C and much, much scarcer than the 1908-C, the only other years Ottawa struck specimen sovereigns.

Thanks, TomB! The 1873 has a light blue tint to the darker toning in the fields that is not captured in these photos. Otherwise, the Trueviews turned out well.
I won this yesterday on GC. Not a super high grade, but I just loved the obverse. I felt it would make a good choice for my type set. I'm actually thinking this could be the start of a nice, small mini type set within the main set - The Vicky One Cent coins of Canada: The Province of Canada cent (this one), the Dominion of Canada cent, the Newfoundland Cent, the PEI cent (one type I particularly like), and the New Brunswick and Nova Scotia cents (and possibly half cents).
There is a mark on the reverse. A detraction, sure, but I don't mind that much based on the strength of the lovely toned obverse.
There is a TrueView, one that I likely took a few years ago. But I prefer my GC Era shot.

That is a great coin Phil! I missed this one on Sunday but went down fighting. Closed much higher than I was willing to go. I thought it was a great cent too.
Latest pickup from Stacks. PE-4, Br-916. From the late Richard August collection. I knew Richard from the New England show circuit. He assembled a wonderful collection of colonial coins and tokens. Very happy with this purchase even if it is optimistically graded.

Don ... Can you please send me, (either on here or PM), a close-up of the T in Victoria, , the 2nd A in Canada, the neck truncation to the dot above the C, and the T in cent. There are some fairly scarce varieties of the '76, but few people look for them . To me, the T in Victoria is missing all or part of the serif, but that's normal. Also, it was good to see you yesterday, and I wish you could have showed me the coin in-hand.
