I also searched rolls of 63 and 63-D Lincolns several years ago. The OP coin pictured is very nice but I see it as a nice 65, maybe a 66 on a good day. There are just too many ticks for a 67. Send it in and see what happens. PCGS is just brutal on these early Memorial cents!

Just to refresh your memory these are all 67+ so the bar is really set too high for my coin huh?
Yes. If you look with your eyes and not your heart, those coins have fewer marks and seemingly better luster than yours.
I don't understand your need to make dozens of posts insisting we agree. Send it in. You're not going to convince us. And, obviously, you're not going to change your mind. In fact, i expect you to argue that PCGS is wrong when it comes back 65 or 66.

I didn't say what was wrong with them. but there are 4 things to consider. eye appeal maybe? even if they give it a 67+ you will say it didn't deserve it so it is what it is.
Please post the results when the coin(s) come back from our hosts. I have a few '63-D OBW rolls and the couple of rolls I have gone through have some decent coins in them I think, I mean who wouldn't like 62 year old bright red copper? But not sure that they would grade high enough to warrant sending them in. In fact I am sure of it!

I am starting this thread back up again because I think I have found a promising 1963 D Lincoln cent that I think should grade at MS67 + I have looked high and low for this coin exclusively for the last couple of years . I stopped for a few months and gave others a chance to buy rolls I would have then looked and saw 3 sold and 7 available and bought them for 20 bucks a roll. I have bought from this seller several times and the coins were always clean and unsearched so I knew it could possibly be in one of them. Last roll last 1o or so coins I found it. I had 10 or so set aside as maybe's but I knew they wouldn't make the grade . This coin has it all I think. Cartwheel Luster , Great clean Eye appeal, Great Strike on both sides and only a few minor nicks . I have read that Luster can add to a coins grade well that should push mine to where it belongs MS67+. I have only had the coin a couple of days so I am still in shock , but I will take it to my local coin shop and have them submit it to PCGS for grading soon

Pictures are real nice. When I start looking at the rim for hits I know it's nice. If the grader knows how tough these are it could get a pretty good grade. I'm not sure to suggest soaking it in acetone or not. It seems they and collectors don't mind the haze that much.

Not true. I don't believe pictures are ever definitive.

And it wouldn't matter if you and everyone else here thought the coin should grade 68 - what counts is what PCGS grades it.
Yet, @masterwax2000 keeps posting pictures and stating his case to anyone who will look.

Exactly.

Not a 63-D but a 63 nonetheless. Just received it back in change today. They're still out there in this kind of shape still circulating after all these years.
1964 Lincoln NOT a 1963-D
Why do you keep comparing?
are you going to compare a 36 to a 26-s? No the strikes are different and so much more... Why keep posting photos of BU No 1963-d images when you are trying to get a 63-d graded?
Like me posting a 1917 and compare it to a 25-s; There are differences... Nuances of each date make them easier or harder to find. Some come with BOOMING luster and some come with matte looks... I know you think you found the top pop 63-d and I hope you did... But please stop posting 61, 62 and 64 dates trying to compare... They are different

I don't post many words because I am not here to argue and cause problems. I post and have posted other 60's Lincoln cents especially recent ones showing the grades for the picture I attach . They surprise me , don't seem to surprise most on here. With coins in the condition they are in getting a MS67 V/S the MS67 Clackamas1 posted is Night and Day. I assume graders grade Lincoln cents not just specialize in 1 year so when I see what I see there should be no surprise that someone kinda new would see what gets a 67 these days and thinks hmmm mine seems just as good if not better and thinks how I do.
