Sorry to say not all of us have cell phones. I had one for about 2 weeks and could not figure out how to use it. It is a nightmare for us old guys to figure out and now with tomorrows game being on Apple TV I will not get to see the Yankees game either. I missed all the games in Arizona because of my close proximity to their park also. Oh well I'll get over it, I just needed to vent a little bit! Go Sox!
Seriously?? Cell phones are incredibly easy. Why don't you have your son set you up with a basic phone that allows you to easily stay in touch with family or friends when you might really need them? All you have to do is turn it on, set up a simple contacts list which will always have their name and number. To call them you just hit the call or text icon...then you either hit end or send if you are texting. Don't be intimidated by technology, embrace it!! You can also use the calendar feature that allows you to enter doctor appointments, or other planned events into the future. Its not a nightmare for me, and I'm one of the "old guys".
My point to pdoidoi was that he has recently found a penchant to post Red Sox stats post game, and often including those of their competitors. You'd think it was breaking news. As for me, 99% of the time I just ask my cell phone for "Red Sox score", in a millisecond I have the score and box score, and if I want I can "watch" the game as it progresses batter by batter. I can easily do this while watching a movie, playing poker, whatever. But, maybe he feels the need to post as he does.
I have a flip phone to use when I go out but that does not have the features of a cell phone. I tried a cell phone but my mind is not what it used to be as I have aged quickly since I turned 85 and just dont have the capabilities I had at even 80 years old.
You really love to stir every one up but not in the right way. Sorry to upset you.
You do realize we all have cell phones, or actually watch the game. Its not like you're making a big announcement here.
If I had a dollar for every time someone posted something on here that me wonder more because they gave almost no info.
Also I get most all of my sports info on here.
EXAMPLE - Red Sox yankees great game.
At least put a score and maybe a little more info.

You do know you don't have to read my post if you don't like it.
There are some post that I have no interest and I just choose to ignore or I may read but choose not to comment.
I'm not on here to cause disruption and piss others off.

You shouldn't be so sensitive. I assure you, you didn't upset me...if you read my post correctly (which obviously you didn't), you'd see that I commented about your posts being irrelevant as they are mostly ancient history. If you wanna be the Hall Monitor, just do your thing and get a thicker skin. If you get all your sports info here, when it is so readily available almost instantly, you must not be aware of much going on in sports. I don't need to add much to my posts, but thanks for the instructional comment to add "maybe a little more info". I'm happy to stir things up a bit...that you think "but not in the right way" clearly indicates a rather myopic viewpoint.
As for the Red Sox, I've been a fan since forever...however, I don't have a herd mentality, when they play well I generally comment, I also comment when they play poorly. Odd how you missed the positive posts, but chose to post about what you didn't like about my writing...its called having an opinion and perhaps countering the thought. Not about having a negative opinion of someone because they tweaked you a bit.
I'll certainly look forward to your ongoing wealth of information that you will continue to share with us after the games are over...as though we already didn't have the info.
By that time cell phones will be headed there too. Technology has passed me by and I have accepted that for what it is. I just want to watch the Red Sox and hate it when big money like Apple stop me from doing that. I know that you will say to just subscribe to Apple so you dont have to remind me. I will just watch the box scores in my big comfortable chair tonight!
No, I would never advise you to subscribe to Apple.
Yankees are favored to win, so it may save you some grief. They're on tomorrow at 4 Eastern. Only 15 more games...the Yankees series could be the coup de gras. I think the Fat Lady is warming up and Dandy Don is not far behind.
The Yankee series is very important for sure. The Sox are throwing everything they have at them so we will see who comes out on top. They have lined up there best pitchers for this series. They still have the Blue Jays to face so its tough stretch to get through with no room for errors. I doubt if they can pull it off with what they face, Judge made statement last night with his 2 homers after a pre game meeting with the president who is a big time Yankee fan.
Well Steve...you actually could have watched the game tonight...for FREE. Appletv offers a one week free trial. Instead of bashing the "big money Apple tv", with some prudent research you could have signed up for a week free, and cancelled it tomorrow.
They lost anyway, and are now 4.5 back and only 14 left. The Fat Lady is approaching the microphone. Such a key game to lose, not the best time to lose 2 in a row...and tomorrow may be the clincher with the Mariners having won 6 in a row.
Yea I saw that but I did that last year and it was a problem getting it cancelled so opted not to bother with it at all. I felt the tide turn for the Yankees yesterday when the President fired them up before the game and specifically Judge who hit 2 home runs last night and at least 1 tonight. Hey it's almost wait till next year time! Been there, done that many times in my life. From what I have heard about tonights game I did not miss much.

Then you shouldn't complain about not seeing the game. You had an opportunity to do so, yet because of something that happened a year ago, you chose not to watch the game??? I just don't get that logic. Sometimes I think you have a bit too much of a bitter viewpoint on life, when you should just roll with the punches. I was in a combat zone in the 1st Infantry Division in Vietnam for a very long year...I can't say I hated it, but I sure didn't want to be there. I sucked it up because there was no escape till my time was up. I made friends, we shared stories about family and comforted each other. We got spit at and called baby killers when we got home...should I forever be bitter over all that? It stung, but we took it and lived our lives...not to mention I buried my best friend from OCS who was killed there.
COUNT YOUR BLESSING!!
Whining almost daily about something as innocuous as a simple baseball game is a waste of effort and time, it only raises blood pressure. Does your team losing a critical game impact your life that much??? Or complaining about not seeing a game, when in fact you could have so easily done so?? We're rounding 3rd base in life, enjoy what you have.
BTW, the President didn't fire up anything, he just attended a game, no more no less...the crowd cheered but his appearance didn't impact the players one iota!!! Where do you get this stuff?
While the outcome wasn't what you wanted, like him or not, you acknolwedged Judge's 362nd career home run last night passing Joe DiMaggio for 4th place in Yankee history. You gotta acknowledge talent. Your team lost, it happens, drop the bitterness.
If the Red Sox win...fine, it they don't they don't...the past is gone forever don't dwell on the negative.
It might be too long for a Mug but really pulled it all together in the end. 5 stars.
I can get a bit long winded in trying to flesh out a point that can't be accomplished in just a sentence or two...
I am not so engrossed in the Red Sox winning or losing, to me its just a game to watch and enjoy whatever the outcome. However, others seem to have a more passionate viewpoint than I, but the contradictions of some postings appear to be illogical and lacking in reality. Then comes the occasional poster who, when challenged or tweaked a bit are unable to counter other than to post trash.
I've been around here almost 25 years...I think after this season it'll be time for me to fade away, I've thought about it for a while, and did drop out some time ago, but came back. I'm not feeling that I contribute very much to the dialog, and don't care to turn into Dr Phil. I'm not the big Red Sox fan I once was, and those magical days of seeing Ted Williams play in Fenway and listening to Red Sox games on my little transistor radio while at the beach are long, long gone and so is the magic.
Sorry I missed getting the Mug, but tks for the 5 stars.

I guess you gotta play by "thread-daddy's" rules.
What.

dork!
Whoa! Make sure that flip gets to the Smithsonian when you're done with it.

Surely the Hall Monitor will chime in with stats.
Its only baseball, no more, no less.
