I was a little worried about this series with the Reds as they’ve been playing well - taking 2 out of 3 from the Phils. The Reds defense in the first 2 games of this series has been the difference.

Looking forward to getting Perkins, Collins, Hoskins, Chourio, and Bauers back soon.

The 5 games in Chicago are going to be wild.

i'm the last one who should be commenting on baseball, as i haven't seen one pitch of one Brewers game all season, but i'm not understanding why they aren't being taken more seriously. i took one look at run differentials and they sure look legit to me. Milwaukee sits at +162, which is 46 runs higher than the next best team in the entire league (Cubs).

look at all of the division leaders, none of which have yet to eclipse the century mark..........Toronto (+59), Detroit (+87), Houston (+39), Philadelphia (+81), LA Dodgers (+87)

so apparently it's not as if they're skating by with a bevy of fluky victories..........they are putting it on teams

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

I think that is a lot of why Murphy is getting so much attention for Manager of the Year and otherwise. Because after the first 4 games of the season their run differential was -44 and there were 16 forum discussions on torpedo bats.

They’ve been a different team at points and their offense wasn’t firing for the first 6 weeks of the season, but they got a few players back and hit the lotto with rookies and acquisitions this season. From my perspective that’s the biggest outlier here. It’s easy to say they’re playing above their heads or eventually they’ll slump. Maybe it’s true. Perhaps they will. But they have been consistently good over the course of a decade and when you are dealt aces — well this is the kind of season you might get.

So yeah I think it’s easy to write them off but they’ve been mowing the league down since mid-May. I’ve been waiting for this to end every day since and at some point it just became easier to stop worrying and start enjoying.

I can't help but watch their games. I will be in self-induced isolation by tomorrow.

Ernie once said "Let's play 2!!" I've never been so scared of baseball in my entire life. :D

Well they don't call it a pennant "race" for nothing. It truly is a 162 game race, and then of course the post season games.

Perhaps this isn't a good analogy. But we've all seen long shot horses take a lead during a race, sometimes a large lead, and even into the top of the stretch. However they almost always then get tired and quit, and finish out of the money.

There are many team sports examples of overachieving teams, performing well in the regular season, but then fading like a cheap suit in the playoffs. That being said, bgr made some interesting points as to why this 2025 Brewers team should not really be considered overachievers.

But not if ya had a 14 game money line parlay on the Brewers. You'd be moving into your new mansion in the rich folk's neighborhood. 😉

There we go. Back to reality. Season is over. Nothing to see here.

    The Brewers lost a game?

The league is now undergoing a full scale investigation into what happened.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,452 ✭✭✭✭✭

My luck, I would have had a 15 game money line parlay on the Brewers. 😂😂😂

I had not watched many innings of Cubs baseball other than the games against the Brewers this season. I tuned in tonight after the Brewers and I’ve seen a few great defensive plays already. That, and some timely hitting, was what I saw in the 5-game series in Chicago. So many balls run down in that outfield. Impressive debut for Cassie. Crow-Armstrong killed so many rallies. Horton was something else until he blistered. Shaw looks legit.

PCA got the winning blast tonight. About time. He needs to hit. Tucker too. I'd love to see these teams fight it all the way in to a playoff series. Could happen.

Regarding a Cubs win - it sure doesn't hurt that the Angels always seem to have their Jon Lester clone coming up to bat in the 9th inning, and they allow him to try to hit in a big spot. Trouty struck out in the 9th, once again. Big surprise to those of us that watch the games. Lol

I saw a ranking today of the top 10 pitcher power rankings. Meaningless. Silly. But I’ll take a look. Peralta leading MLB in wins, 2nd in NL in ERA. 24 scoreless inning streak remains active after 6 innings of 1 hit ball - 16-5 on the season. Peralta cracked the list at #10 so there’s something. His August - one to remember.

Chourio traveled with the team and is in the lineup for tomorrow.

Brewers right where they need to be. Underrated. 18-9 against teams in playoff position and 40-23 against teams above .500. Both MLB bests along with their 48th 4+ run inning this season. For brewers fans this is the big difference from those great teams from the past decade.

With Megill getting a break on the IL the league gets to see Milwaukee closer of the future pitch in the 9th. Enjoy Uribe MLB.

So if they have a “problem”, the aforementioned Chourio is prepared to return tomorrow which means someone else has to sit. Poor Brewers. 😏

  • bgrbgr Posts: 2,750 ✭✭✭✭✭

Welcome back Chourio. He was robbed of a HR in the 1st by a great catch but got it done to open the 9th. Followed by Yelich back-2-back.

Great pitching from both starters. Priester didn’t get the win but went 6 with 0 ER and Brewers are 16-0 in his last 16 starts.

Not a really good team the Brewers. Or so I’m told.

Freaky Friday on Labor Day as the Brewers assumed the personality of the Cubs and vice versa. I enjoyed today's games.

  • bgrbgr Posts: 2,750 ✭✭✭✭✭

You’re right about that. Good outing by Civale. Brewers gotta clean up their play. Been a little sloppy. Bad news on Shelby Miller or sounds like it.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,452 ✭✭✭✭✭

Brewers cooling down a bit as expected. Still a little time to relax and get their momentum back.

Will they be able to do that come playoff time, or did they peak too soon? We shall see.

I have a feeling if the Brewers are good enough to meet the Phillies in the playoffs, there will be some pretty good smack flying. Better hide the women and children. LOL

BTW, I'm sure you noticed that the Phillies just took 2 outa 3 from the Brewers at home.

Please don't. I have anxiety just thinking about all the mud you'll be slinging. I'm a sensitive dude.

Regarding the Phils. I did take note of the season series Brewers 4, Phillies 2. Nice to have the tie-breaker with them as they'll be in the hunt for MLB best record.

Gonna be a fun game to watch today; Misiorowski vs. Chandler at PNC with football in the background.

Jaison Chourio. He's in the Cleveland minor league system. Supposed to be another hot talent. Hang on to those cards Joey.
