Hopefully it will travel

It was in Tampa Sept 2024 and now Rosemont 2025

Will they let ME pick the next few cities?
It might depend on how well the show does in Rosemont. There would be little incentive to move it if it's a successful show.
I'd like to see a few more like that here in new england
In my opinion, Rosemont is unlikely to be a regular venue. ANA is in Pittsburgh next yea,r then back to Rosemont in 2027. That August show kind of closes the window for September in Rosemont.

I think they will take it somewhere out southwest next
Agreed. I think Rosemont is a one-off. Taking advantage of the fact that lots of people were expected to skip OKC, and necessitated by the fact that Tampa was a bust last year. IMEX next week also isn't going to be doing them any favors.
I'm just not sure there is a market for this show. Anywhere. TBD.
I will attempt to tell this as straight as I can remember it and not throw in thoughts about where it will go.
Back before Tampa I was talking with Larry. As I recall he said objective (then) was to develop a show in Florida. Twice a year. He got Tampa for Sept but couldn't get it for spring. So he got Ft Lauderdale. He said he was going to get Tampa for the next year Sept time frame but was told he couldn't book it more than 9 months prior (the 9 months is what I recall but could have been a slightly different number). Said he set the alarm, so to say, to call the day of 9 months prior. Then was told all the times he wanted were full and the earliest he could get was November. He said that is what I get for 'playing by the rules'. Then he went looking and Rosemont was the choice. Of course after Tampa the Fr Lauderdale got canceled and focused on Rosemont. He had said he was generally open to changes and listening to the dealers and collectors. But the initial plan was to have it in Florida. I have not asked anything since this.

Florida is hard. September is hot and has an increased risk of hurricanes. Spring you have spring break making things difficult. Winter you are competing with FUN.
This ^^^. Larry is going to have a hard time wherever he goes.
As is IMEX. The calendar is pretty full, and there really is no need for more, for-profit shows.
California has nothing at scale, and PCGS could not make Long Beach work. Although they have virtually unlimited resources and no competition.
No one really needs these shows, and these guys are in it to make money. Not to provide a public service.
I think they are doomed to fail, although I really do appreciate the effort, and would love, love, love to be proven wrong.
I think IMEX won't be as dismal as feared - there were enough dealers at WFoM with signs up "This Dealer will be at IMEX" that it registered in my brain as a thing. But that's a far cry from saying it will be successful.

It will not be in Rosemont when the ANA show is there.

Okay. But coins show really aren't measured in shades of grey. They are either successful or they aren't.
"Dismal" isn't really a thing. Unless the last one was "dismal." Because this probably won't even be as good as that. First impressions and all.
The signs themselves are a sign of that. How many "This Dealer will be at FUN" signs did you see? Wonder why?
Because they don't need that, so they don't do that. For those who were in OKC, and saw the signs, exactly who is now going to book a trip to Nashville in 2 weeks, to spend quality time with the dealers once again, who wasn't already going? Answer: nobody.
The sign is designed to do nothing other than try to create excitement for something no one is excited about. Same as all the promoting in this forum. Do you ever see anyone from the FUN or ANA boards come here to tell us how their shows are going to be the greatest thing to hit numismatics since the beginning of the use of gold and silver as currency?
Finally, my point in the post you quoted wasn't even that IMEX would be dismal. It was simply that it will cannibalize some of the crowd GACC might have otherwise attracted. No one needs 3 of these shows back to back to back within a month.
Case in point -- you went to OKC and apparently not only had a great time, but saw all the signs for IMEX. Made it register in your brain as a thing. Indicating you likely were not planning to go to Nashville next week.
Are you doing so now? How about Rosemont in 4 weeks?
Trust yourself as a leading indicator. You are not unique. Most of the dealers with signs will be kicking themselves next week for allowing themselves to get roped into it yet again. Reminds me of Charlie Brown, Lucy, and the football.
I'd like to see a few more like that here in new england
OK- Where?
Member ANA, SPMC, SCNA, FUN, CONECA
Fort Kent, Maine?
Most dealers are going to Rosemont, including me. Imex dealer attendance will be abysmal, imo.

@NJCoin I already knew of both shows and had no interest in attending either of them.
I kind of do wish that people from ANA and FUN would show up and talk up their shows.

Not so much right now.
As I've said multiple times now, you are a great guy doing the best you can with what you have to work with. But @PeakRarities is only proving my point about first impressions. I honestly don't see how you recover from 2023. And now, 2025.
You are one week out. Congratulations on the Jed Clampett exhibit and the Ship of Gold.
What's the bourse table count you plan to use to attract "pretty strong attendance" at $10 per day? How does it compare to your inaugural outing? If it was a stock, would I be a buyer or a seller based on the two data points and the trend?
Or, are you really counting on the Ship of Gold and the IMMYs to drive paid admissions?
