Why not - the Browns got women beaters in the off season so why not an idiot that swings at the opposing players and gets a penalty. Cleveland just sees that as "Fiery Spirit"!

Maybe Jimmy wants that second Sanders son so he’ll have one for each side of the ball. 😎

Shilo would be a good practice squad guy if hes not acting like the best player on the field. He was good to solid in college but nothing special. I will never understand the thought process of throwing a punch at some guys helmet though. You arent going to hurt them and have a far higher chance of breaking your hand while doing nothing to them

It’s easy to dismiss but most people have punched something or threw something out of frustration or anger. It’s simply a cathartic release of emotion to reduce stress. I’m not arguing that it’s the best approach but who cares. No helmets were harmed.

What I find humorous is if this kids last name wasn't Sanders it would't have even made a blip. on the game recap

Micah's common sense must still be in offseason mode lol. He took a nap on the sideline while the Cowboys were playing in their final preseason game.

Someone get that man a Snickers bar because he's not going anywhere for awhile and Jerry seems like the type to not trade him just out of spite.

This will be Micah by week 9. 😉

He is literally on LT or Ray Lewis status and he knows it, either Jerry pays him or someone else certainly will and Micah knows this for 100% certainty

LT or Ray Lewis status? Sorry Perk, I can't agree with ya there, and I know you know football as well as anyone out there. From what I've read, at least the past season, Micah would take games off, certainly plays off. I don't recall LT or Ray Lewis ever taking even a play off in their entire career, especially LT.

The Cowboys defense last season was ranked among the worst in the league. Of course. not entirely Micah's fault, but that's what it was.

I do however completely agree with ya that Micah will get paid.

He has 52 sacks in his first 4 years of play, that's the 6th best all time and way more than LT had.

LT is my number one defensive player of all. time, if I was starting a defense and could pick one guy over everyone, so believe me I don't mean any disrespect towards LT

But like it or not the numbers don't lie and his first 4 years are far better than LT's

When I made my list earlier in the thread it never occurred to me that the Browns might trade Picket. I knew they'd cut Huntley loose but thought Picket would heal from that hammy and be the 2nd guy after Flacco. Now things are clearer and they look wise to have taken the two guys in the Draft. Cleveland now has 10 total picks in the 2026 Draft with 2 No. 1's among them. They can roll with Flacco and allow the two rookies to gain some valuable sideline experience and more than likely some playing time, also.

It looks like the Browns might be "dressing" all three QB's, Flacco/Gabriel/Sanders, for their games.

All. of a sudden the Browns look promising with all those draft picks

If Gabriel or Sanders turns into a legit solid starter then job well done, if I'm Stefanski I'm getting Gabriel. and Sanders significant playing time after a few weeks of them standing on the sidelines with clipboards

I never understand the bye weeks. How can there be 6 teams on Bye in week 8 and 0 in week 13? All other bye weeks have 2 or 4 teams; why not shift some from week 8 to 13? It makes no sense to have 0 on week 13 and then 4 on week 14

Bye weeks late in the season are gold, week 8 is completely useless

That might be one way to go. My thinking as Stefanski would be two-fold, protect 40 year old Flacco and get the rookies some game time. If the Browns are in games till the end I'd stick with Flacco till the end. If the Browns are comfortably ahead or out of games, sit the No. 1 and give the rookies game time. I would maintain Flacco as the starter throughout the season because I have never been a fan of the QB carousel because of the affect it has on the players.

Sure, but if that is his course of action he needs to absolutely sit these kids down and drill it into their heads that that's the plan for this season

Putting them in here and there on how he feels is a way to destroy confidence, communication is everything

I mean sure I understand the mindset of "Being ready to go in at all times" but playing musical. chairs with QB's can hurt confidence unless they expect that that's the plan for the season.

Week 13 is Thanksgiving. With 3 games on Thursday, one on Friday, one on Sunday night, one on Monday night, if you hand out a few byes, you wouldn't have any games on Sunday afternoon. Lol

I thought I said that?? (I have never been a fan of the QB carousel because of the affect it has on the players)

Stefanski is a pretty good HC, organized and tends to think things through. I have learned to not pay much attention to his comments reported by the media, so I have full confidence that he doesn't do things willy-nilly. Whatever course he takes his players will know. If it's his plan to do as I suggested, they probably already know. If it's his plan to make a move to Gabriel in week three, the players already know or will shortly.

I have never seen Stefanski as the kind of HC that gets influenced very much by all the outside noise He seems to understand that "If you let the fans/media tell you what to do, pretty soon you'll be sitting with them!!"

I noticed that the Browns appear to have waived the entire line that was out there for Sanders last game. I didn’t see much either.

I wonder if the OL playing with Sanders vs. LA Rams at the end played at all with Gabriel in the last two games???

I tried searching for which players on the OL blocked for Shedeur in that 2nd half but I could only find the total snap counts for Saturday here. https://brownswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/browns/2025/08/26/snap-counts-preseason-finale-browns-vs-rams/85822178007/

The article did mention that 4 of the 7 offensive tackles that played versus the Rams were released. It’s probably a good chance that all 4 tackles saw their snaps in the 2nd half with Shedeur.

  • MaywoodMaywood Posts: 2,937 ✭✭✭✭✭

@perkdog, what I know for sure about Kevin Stefanski is that when he has players to work with he does OK, when he doesn't he struggles. That doesn't say much because it's the story of just about every HC. He tends to handle adversity well and doesn't have the emotional sideline outbursts I don't really care for by the leader. With the current management, Andrew Berry and Jimmy Haslam, it's hard to know how much input Stefanski has with player moves, so it's hard to know if he evaluates players good or bad.

Yeah no one is calling Sanders a stud, that’s a completely made up argument on your part.
If your OL is basically letting pass rushers speed by them on every single play it really doesn’t matter who else is on the field because the QB will never see them while laying on his back or being forced to throw it away prematurely.

Every NFL offense depends on their linemen doing their job to have any type of success and Cleveland’s line in that 2nd half looked like a bunch of dudes that were days away from hitting unemployment.

Point was its not like the starters were the ones rushing the line on the other side of the ball. At least 2 of the sacks were completely on him and it was backups and guys getting cut going against each other. There wasnt really a talent discrepancy on either side of the ball

No one is refuting that, we’ve just pointed out how badly the Browns OL was during that stretch.

It’s like you’re creating this straw man argument to continue ripping Shedeur which is fine but go take it up with someone else. I’m not defending his play in that game. I just reported how I saw it after watching the entire game. The OL was ass in that 2nd half which only made his play look even worse than it was.

Shedeur played in two preseason games and these were his stats for each game.
    G1 Panthers: 14/23 138yds 2tds 2sacks
    G3 Rams: 3/6 14yds 0tds 5sacks

He’s probably not as good as that first appearance and not as bad as the second, likely somewhere in between.
He’s starting the season as the Browns #3 QB for a reason, he clearly needs more development before anyone can say with any certainty that he is/isn’t a long term answer at QB.

  • MaywoodMaywood Posts: 2,937 ✭✭✭✭✭

    clearly needs more development

Sanders played 4 years of college ball, Gabriel played 6 years and I think that shows.

Gabriel is probably the better QB it’s just that he may have limitations due to his height and being a lefty.

Flacco hasn’t started 8 games in a season since all the way back in 2019 so both rookies are likely going to get their chance to start a game somewhat early in the season. No one is expecting this team to make the playoffs so might as well see what you got between the two.

I agree it’s a long shot. But I do enjoy how much the concept bothers people. I’m just putting it on the table.

I never understand the bye weeks. How can there be 6 teams on Bye in week 8 and 0 in week 13? All other bye weeks have 2 or 4 teams; why not shift some from week 8 to 13? It makes no sense to have 0 on week 13 and then 4 on week 14

Always wondered why the NFL doesn't just have a mid season bye week for all teams. Would that not be fair to all teams? These early bye weeks seem too early for the season barely getting underway. And late bye weeks favor those teams heading into the playoffs. While other playoff bound teams without a late season bye seem at a disadvantage.

The Bye Games probably help the scheduling quite a bit.
