Anyone else catch Ryan Fitzpatrick's comment about Jaxson Dart just before the Pats/Giants game started last night on Amazon Prime? I put the game on about 10-15mins before it started and their wasn't a pre-game show just Fitzpatrick and a female sideline reporter sort of sitting there preparing themselves and occasionally talking to someone off air.
At one point the woman asked him his thoughts on Dart and this was his reply: "From Jaxson Dart, it's exciting," Fitzpatrick said. "He's got leadership. He's got intelligence, and he's got moxie, which is a fun thing. I don't like his release. I think it's slow. He dances like Drew Lock. Not a huge fan. I don't think Giants fans should be excited at all."
While I did have the game on I really only watched about half of the first quarter so I don't know if he continued on with that sentiment or if he just did a 180 once the game went live. It was definitely surprising to hear him be so brutally honest on air like that whether it was intentional or not lol.

I can't understand why anyone would want to hear a comment by him about the NFL, the guy was a hanger-on who played perhaps 10 years longer than he should have. He demonstrates just how desperate some teams are for a QB. Think about it, he had a 17 season career and his record averaged for a 17 game season is 6-11. That's just pathetic.

The chances of Hendrickson moving seem very low to me. With Parsons I would expect Jones to let him die on the vine before he would bow to a trade. Cleveland would actually be a good landing spot for Hendrickson but I don’t see anything other than an extension are realistic. Cleveland has a couple 1st round picks for 26 and the only thing that should stop them for shopping for a 30 year old stud edge rusher to pair with Garrett is the fact that they are never in a playoff window so it doesn’t matter.

I actually did watch the Browns/Rams game and Shedeur's statline didn't really tell the whole story there. The Browns OL was straight up horrible during that five series stretch that Sanders played after halftime and on that play where he fumbled, the left tackle (#72) barely made any effort to stop his defender. The Edge guy just sped right past him and looked like he got the ball before Shedeur realized he was that close. During that same stretch the run blocking wasn't much better with 7 rushes for 18 total yards.
I don't follow the Browns closely enough to know all of the names that they had in the game during that 2nd half but its probably a safe bet to say that the majority of those players aren't even going to make the practice squad let alone the actual roster.
As for Shedeur's actual passes that he did make, there was nothing there that stood out good or bad. He did make one deep attempt while running to his right that looked kind of wobbly that his WR,who was smothered, still had a shot at catching but he didn't and the Browns got called for a penalty back at the line.
Dillon Gabriel on the other hand did have a decent day throwing the ball during his two drives in the 2nd quarter that led to a FG & TD. The first drive he was running out to the left and tried hitting his WR (Thrash?) low in the corner of the endzone and it was a catchable ball but the defender also had his arm in there. I don't know if Gabriel actually saw it but he had another WR streaking to the left about 5-7yards behind those two that would have been a much easier play there had he seen him.
The following possession Cleveland was able to run their 2min offense just before the half and he moved the offense down the field fairly easily with quick passes. One play a WR bobbled it for a catch but Gabriel hit him in stride. There was another throw that initially looked high & behind his WR who still made an attempt at it and got nailed but on replay you could see the ball got tipped back at the line. Then on a 3rd & 7 he hit a Wr on a post route heading out of bounds inside the 5 for a 1st down. The next play he found someone wide open for a TD.
I tuned into this game to get a better look at their two rookie QBs and while Gabriel definitely had the much better day of the two, I doubt anything about this game changed much towards who has a better shot at being the team's longterm QB. It looks like its Flacco for the forseeable future until there's a better case for someone else.

Add to that the play calling which is sometimes nothing more than trying to see what specific players are capable of doing. Maybe the coaches want to make a decision on a receiver or a running back, they call a few plays to that player.

I know that in NE's case on TNF against the Giants, IIRC outside of OL, there were roughly just 4-5 players on each side of the ball that played in a actual game for NE in 2024 and about 2/3rds of that number were mostly just special teams players. Another play that stood out to me on how bad the pass blocking was on Shedeur's first 3rd down play during that opening drive out of the half. It was like 3rd & 6 and withing seconds of the ball getting hiked he had two defenders chasing him out towards the left sideline and he eventually was just forced to run it out of bounds for no gain. It ultimately goes into the box score as a running play but it was clearly a breakdown in their pass blocking.
Nothing from his performance today had that make or break feel to it. Barring an injury to Flacco or Pickett, this was likely the last chance of Shedeur seeing reps against some other team's defense for awhile.
Past all that and judging from the overall pre-season I would say the Browns will be tough to run on this season.
Mason Graham should definitely be a huge addition in that regard. He didn't get the same level of hype that Abdul Carter got heading into the draft but the majority of draft analysts thought that he could make an immediate impact.
As far as Sanders in that game might as well have had a Colorado jersey on. Same stuff, line drive over a open receivers head, multiple sacks that were 100 percent on him especially the longest loss of yards etc. I get that a lot of these will get cut when he was playing, but that makes it even worse doing the same things against a defense that has no legit starters on the field
Mason Graham should definitely be a huge addition.
The Browns have been trying to find inside help for Myles Garrett for 3-4 years now, a man can only take double teams for so long. Mason Graham looks like he might be the answer to the search, past everything physical he brings to the table he's young and hungry!!
My thinking on the QB "controversy" that the media created is that at least part of it was resolved yesterday. Post game HC Stefanski said he'll name a number 2 in "the next few days. I see it like this
Joe Flacco --- always was the starter and showed why yesterday.
Dillon Gabriel --- solidified his claim with the 2-minute drill.
Kenny Picket --- the eventual backup when he's healthy.
Shedeur Sanders --- he'll probably make the roster and dress as number 3 unless Picket is healthy.
Tyler Huntley --- most likely a cut but he probably knew that when he signed.
Deshaun Watson --- injured and might as well get comfortable wherever he is.
Tomas Stepanski(the Waterboy) --- has not signed a contract yet but he's working out and waiting for a shot.

Another play that stood out to me on how bad the pass blocking was on Shedeur's first 3rd down play during that opening drive out of the half. It was like 3rd & 6 and withing seconds of the ball getting hiked he had two defenders chasing him out towards the left sideline and he eventually was just forced to run it out of bounds for no gain. It ultimately goes into the box score as a running play but it was clearly a breakdown in their pass blocking.
Nothing from his performance today had that make or break feel to it. Barring an injury to Flacco or Pickett, this was likely the last chance of Shedeur seeing reps against some other team's defense for awhile.
Mason Graham should definitely be a huge addition in that regard. He didn't get the same level of hype that Abdul Carter got heading into the draft but the majority of draft analysts thought that he could make an immediate impact.

As far as Sanders in that game might as well have had a Colorado jersey on. Same stuff, line drive over a open receivers head, multiple sacks that were 100 percent on him especially the longest loss of yards etc. I get that a lot of these will get cut when he was playing, but that makes it even worse doing the same things against a defense that has no legit starters on the field

The Browns have been trying to find inside help for Myles Garrett for 3-4 years now, a man can only take double teams for so long. Mason Graham looks like he might be the answer to the search, past everything physical he brings to the table he's young and hungry!!
My thinking on the QB "controversy" that the media created is that at least part of it was resolved yesterday. Post game HC Stefanski said he'll name a number 2 in "the next few days. I see it like this
Joe Flacco --- always was the starter and showed why yesterday.
Dillon Gabriel --- solidified his claim with the 2-minute drill.
Kenny Picket --- the eventual backup when he's healthy.
Shedeur Sanders --- he'll probably make the roster and dress as number 3 unless Picket is healthy.
Tyler Huntley --- most likely a cut but he probably knew that when he signed.
Deshaun Watson --- injured and might as well get comfortable wherever he is.
Tomas Stepanski(the Waterboy) --- has not signed a contract yet but he's working out and waiting for a shot.
