Weird and confusing is probably better than a bet that "Makes Sense"

    Hit it Bro!

Just as "there is no crying in baseball" there is no logic in gambling.

Certainly the usual casino games should be avoided like the plague. Even with poker, a game of pure skill, in most casinos such as the 1-2 hold 'em games, the casino rake is way too high for even a top player to make money. However I've watched on Youtube the nosebleed poker games, and some of those top players are obviously making money at it. Especially when some of the players are just business types who have money to burn, and the poker pros eat them alive. It's almost like the business guys are playing with their hole cards face up. It's risk to the top players because some of those business guys could get lucky for a session. So overall there's risk there, but it's not really gambling, because the pros have an edge in the long run way more than the casino rake.

Now we get to sports betting. I've already stated a fair amount about that in this thread. Suffice to say I think there may be opportunity where, especially in live betting, the bettor might have an edge.

A degenerate sitting on his couch, watching TV, and punching in a bet during a game every minute or so, is nothing more than a glutton for punishment. Impossible to win doing that. But take Galaxy's wager. I haven't been following MLB lately for betting calls, I'll resume that when football season begins. However when I saw the bet, it quickly jumped out at me. In my opinion there were a good number of reasons why that approximate 65% return, seemed to be highly in the bettor's favor. Due to a number of interesting circumstances. The key is does any player have the discipline to wait for possibly days or weeks, for an opportunity like that to arise? Certainly DK and FD have made billions, depending on players who don't have that sort of patience.

I'm still amazed at the seemingly endless number of bets available, just in one game. Gambling addict heaven for sure. LOL

From what I have read, Phil was not much of a successful gambler, what with millions in losses, so his prediction would seem to reflect this.

Around 20 years ago I was told by a very dependable source involved in the industry, who I happened to meet and know from internet chat, that Mickelson owed the casinos 9 million dollars. I'm not sure if the exact figure ever came out publicly, but the "millions" you mentioned which has been out there for a long time, makes the 9 million figure seem completely credible. Why shouldn't the casinos extend him that sort of credit, as Mickelson was one of the top golfers back then.

I'm not sure at all what is his situation today?

first and foremost, i just want to say how epic has thread been? perk's legendary creation commenced on 9/21/22. almost THREE years later and we're still going strong.

    since that time....

my high point, which seems like a distant memory, like from here to Neptune distant, was +1881.28 on 3/17/23

a little over a year later i reached my low point, which was -5517.92 on 4/2/25

hovering around -4k as i type this

the glass half-empty approach is that i urinated over 7k in a year's time

the glass half-full approach is that i've made roughly 1.5k since the Masters

i'm going to train my itty-bitty brain to go with the half-full approach

i don't know why i feel this way, but instincts tell me this is going to be a profitable football season. i'm jonesing to carve into my deficit. let's do this!

in the immortal words of stevek, we.....shall......see

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

Cubs beat the Brewers again today.

Ya just knew the Brewers had to come back, at least somewhat, from that 14 game winning streak.
