Watson ruptured his achilles on October 20th during week 7 of the 2024 season and then around January 5-10th 2025 retore it during rehab. Initially it was stated 10-12 months till he MIGHT be able to play. Logically extending that out for the initial 10-12 months we come to November 2025 - January 2026. It would be insane to allow him to play at the end of what is almost certainly going to be a losing 2025 season, 4-13 is optimistic.
So no, Deshaun Watson will almost certainly not play in 2025. Strike three and you are out.
Calm down bro. I just said I think there’s a good chance. We will see and I hope you’re right as you seem pretty invested in this outcome.

I've hired and fired a good number of people over the years. Sales, warehouse, drivers, secretarial, etc. One thing I've learned is of course try to hire the best that you can. However if you make a mistake, just admit it and get rid of that mistake right away.
I once hired a secretary for a busy office. We were busy as yell, and really needed another gal. I hired the best of a weak lot of interviews, and figured I'd give her a go. Well she came in on time, good sign, and I gave her a small, easy project to do. I didn't have time to babysit her for the entire morning, orders had to get processed. But around 11:30 I came over to her desk to see how she was doing with the work. Well she hadn't done chit, and I was steaming. Didn't say a single word to her. Went back to my desk, cut her a check for one day of employment, went over to her, handed her the check and told her, I'm letting you go. Funny thing is she didn't say a word, just placed the check in her purse and walked out.

@stevek, I get that you don't like Sanders, I was against the pick myself, but in all honesty he hasn't done anything to justify a rush to judgement which would be releasing him. From all accounts he is a good teammate, willing to be taught, shows up when/where he's supposed to and has performed well in his limited opportunity. The worst that can be said about him is that he's a bad driver and likes the camera.
Did I miss something he did??

How is Sanders going to act personally, and perform on the field after he signs a fat contract? But the Browns seem to have a bad habit of not thinking ahead.
Some if not many players are grateful about receiving the big money. I believe the opposite will happen with Sanders. He will get a swelled head, and behave accordingly. Frankly, it's an easy call.
I doubt that the money will affect Shedeur like some here may think. He's already earned somewhere in the range of 4.7 to 6.5M in NIL money, not to mention that's probably on top of making a decent living off of his social media presence alone. Throw in the lifestyle that he grew up in due to his father's career earnings and this isn't the same as some 23yr old who grew up poor seeing real money for the first time.

Sanders already signed a four-year rookie contract with the Browns on May 19, 2025, worth $4.6 million including a $447,380 signing bonus. Apparently we have already witnessed how he'll perform and act.

Well, we're beating this Sanders topic to death, including me, so this might be my final post on the subject (until the next one - LOL)
College sports is a whole world different than the pros. The discipline needed to succeed in the pros is far greater than in college. I don't think Sanders has that sort of discipline. Those two, 100 miles an hour speeding tickets absolutely proves it. That is clearly undisciplined self-destructive behavior.
Perhaps at other NFL positions, a player can be footloose and fancy free, and get away with it. Not QB. There is way too much study and practice time needed to develop into a starter, let alone a champion. Sanders just doesn't have it. He didn't get drafted until the fifth round by accident, there were reasons for it which in my opinion are valid.
One last point before this becomes a dissertation. In the pros, those defensive players are killers. The "hits" that Sanders received in college, aren't even close to the punishment he will receive in the pros. I don't think that Sanders will respond well to that punishment. He will develop "happy feet" and for a NFL QB, that's a career fatal affliction.

I wasn't aware of that, and haven't paid close attention to it. Does he still receive all that money if he gets cut? I don't think so.
Besides, he grew-up privileged with a famous rich Daddy. A few million means nothing to an ego as big as his. Ego is fine if you perform. If you don't, it can lead to depression, and result in very bad habits such as drug addiction or other negative behaviors. Lemme think for a second of another example, oh yea, like driving a car recklessly over 100 miles an hour, twice. And those were just the times he got caught.

Exactly, money isn't the motivating factor him I don't believe
Part of me thinks he wants to make his own name and enjoy the spotlight by being a great player.
We will see,, I:m planning on doing the "Told ya so" thing come week 5 or so when he is their starting QB ,
@stevek said: Does he still receive all that money if he gets cut?
$447,380 signing bonus, guarantreed. His was a typical 5th round rookie contract as laid out by the NFLPA agreement. As far as everything else(and remember, I'm not a big supporter of Sanders) most of what you say is not really based on anything he's done. I will just let him play, be watched like a hawk by the media, and see where he ends up.
One thing that interests me is when exactly the change in the NFL took place which says these QB's get drafted, are expected to start immediately and lead their teams to the promised land. Standard way used to be sit for 1-2-3 years as an "understudy" and learn, then take the reigns. As you say, @stevek, there is way too much study and practice time needed to develop into a starter, let alone a champion, yet in the NFL today a rookie QB is expected to do that right outta the gate.
It's refreshing to see someone post that it isn't a realistic expectation.

Let's be clear there isn't a whole lot more that goes into it compared to being a multi year starter at a Division 1 College, you are being prepped hard for NFL training camp
Sure the NFL is harder but most of the offensive programs in College are Pro Style especially in the BIG, SEC ect.. it's pretty much a farm system for the NFL
The biggest adjustments are speed and size differences, the programs teach basically the same stuff
Not saying it's easy but it's not even close to learning Division 1 Football after High School
I think another aspect that needs to be brought up in regards to Shedeur's specific situation is, again, his father. Shedeur was likely getting a first class education from his father on how to prepare for the overall grind of playing professional football starting at a very young age. Something that the average NFL draft pick just doesn't receive.
If you want to take the topic of his "education" even further, go read up on Tom Brady literally mentoring Shedeur at times throughout the years. How many other current/former NFL players did the same with Deion's son? Probably more.
Again, this is something that most draft picks never come close to seeing outside of their everyday college program and maybe some pre-draft work with a specific trainer/specialist.
Predicting whether or not Shedeur Sanders will bust or not when he's less than four months into his NFL career just seems ludicrous to me. If someone really wants to go down the path of whether not or not he has what it takes mentally to eventually become a starter or champion, then you should probably take into consideration that he's likely already ahead of the majority of rookies in regards to their normal learning curve coming into the league. Obviously, that isn't a guarantee of any type of success but it's certainly an advantage in his favor.
I agree that money isnt going to be an issue for Sanders, he already has the money from his endorsements from his last name and social media. The issue wont be how will he act when he gets money, it will be how will he act if hes QB1
Im not sure where the idea of him being a great teammate came from because the Colorado players would largely disagree. There were legit players including one of their 2 5 stars that transferred out of there and he was a significant reason why. He also has a history of throwing his oline under the bus which have fun doing that in the nfl when your dad isnt your coach.
Its certainly true that the SEC and the B!G are basically minor league football but he never played in either. He spent the first two years at an HBCU with Travis Hunter who is a cheat code and it was just a joke how much better he was than everyone, then transferred to a Pac 12 school with Hunter. You basically have to go back to the Carrol days at Southern Cal for the last time there was a truely scary defense in that conference. Oregon and Washington are the only two schools to ever make the playoffs and both got blown out in the championship. Its fitting the conference fell apart because it really hasnt been deserving of being a power conference in football for at least a decade now.
I do think he will eventually start or at least get a chance too because Flacco and Dillion, and Pickett and the hotdog vendor from the upper deck who might as well be on the roster too they have so many QBs are not the answer. Ultimately the Browns are hoping Watson gets healthy but he might just be happier getting paid to rehab and not taking it as seriously as he could
I think some here are conveniently forgetting that Sanders was projected as a very high first round pick. I know, I know, Brady was a 6th round pick, and look what he did. Big difference, Brady was expected to be around a 6th round pick, maybe lower. Sanders was expected to possibly be the first pick in the draft. You're ignoring the fact that 31 other front offices passed on him. Most if not all of them, are smarter than the Browns front office.
I have seen no evidence to convinces me that those other 31 front offices were wrong. Sometimes I say "We shall see" when something is in doubt. However I don't need to say that with Sanders. I've already got my "Told ya so" statement all typed out and ready to post at the right time. 😉
idk how Sanders' time with Cleveland is going to play out, but i can totally envision him being the starter at some point. i think it's just a matter of time.
what i do know for a fact is that his father, whom i used to like, really gets under my skin now
Is Shedeur Soft Sanders going to play in the upcoming pre-season game? Or is that tummy ache still bothering him?
He might be getting a manicure during the day of the game, and may not be able to attend. It's highly important for pampered rich folk to have their fingernails well groomed. That's a priority over a football game any time.

The Dallas Cowboys and All-Pro defensive end Micah Parsons are reportedly "headed towards divorce," ESPN's Adam Schefter said on the latest episode of his podcast released on Tuesday (August 19).
“You can’t get a deal done if you’re not even talking, and the two sides haven’t had any negotiations since late March or early April, and it sounds like at this point it’s personal," Schefter said.

Herbert is overrated and the Chargers organization breeds losing anyways
Justin Herbert's eyes are totally real! He has a unique and striking eye color, which is often described as a vivid blue. Some people think they look almost too perfect, but they're just a natural feature of his. A lot of people have noticed how intense his gaze is, but it’s all natural genetics.

to no avail
homie has caught 43 passes and one whole touchdown in his career, and that was with Patty M slinging it
some of these articles get comically hyperbolic
I'm assuming the much-needed part had more to do with the 49ers currently needing WR help due to multiple injuries at that position than it did with anything that Skyy Moore did a year ago in KC. If the 49ers wideout core is at full health then Moore is likely in the 4-6th range on their depth chart.
Ironically, right around the same time that I posted that link this morning, 49ers WR Russell Gage suffered a knee injury at practice. Its possible that they could be looking to trade for one more WR.

Herbert is a stud but yea their defense just loves finding ways to lose games and for some reason no matter what they always have a ton of injuries no matter whose on the team. Been doing it for 20 years but Spanos deserves it for moving the team to LA

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert and pop star Madison Beer sparked dating rumors when they were photographed together on the set of her new music video in Los Angeles, the the Daily Mail reports.
Herbert, 27, and Beer, 26, were reportedly spotted in Hancock Park, where she introduced the quarterback to various crew members before they left together in his car, according to the website. The singer had previously dated TikTok star Nick Austin and was linked to Brooklyn Beckham, the son of soccer legend David Beckham and Victoria 'Posh Spice' Beckham, though Beckham later denied the speculation.

3 Wrs got drafted last year from Colorado. Teams obviously talked to all them which is likely why he fell so far in the draft even past people like Milroe who just arent even good and theres footage of Hunter yelling at him on the sidelines

That's interesting, I didn't know that.
Reason # 268 not to like him. 😉
Perhaps she hasn't been passed around as much as Taylor Swift. 😂

At least when Herbert has a crappy game he can blame it on "Too much Beer" last night!

from AI:
Justin Herbert's eyes are totally real! He has a unique and striking eye color, which is often described as a vivid blue. Some people think they look almost too perfect, but they're just a natural feature of his. A lot of people have noticed how intense his gaze is, but it’s all natural genetics.

I suspect that anyone who talks about a woman's body in a sexual manner on a sports forum has an ugly wife. Prove me wrong.
i looked up 'Skyy Moore' in the dictionary and searched feverishly for 'much-needed' as one of the synonyms
to no avail
homie has caught 43 passes and one whole touchdown in his career, and that was with Patty M slinging it

Its possible that they could be looking to trade for one more WR.

help them what? make sure they have 11 guys on offense week 1? wonderful, thanks for wasting 5 minutes of our lives with that article
help them actually win football games? yeah sure, ok. lol

Herbert is a stud but yea their defense just loves finding ways to lose games and for some reason no matter what they always have a ton of injuries no matter whose on the team. Been doing it for 20 years but Spanos deserves it for moving the team to LA
