That's INSANE given all the orders they aggressively canceled for weeks on end. If they don't revise that number downward, they are going to have some 'splaining to do. Even though they have shown repeatedly over the past year or so that they are perfectly capable, and willing, to not stick to stated mintage limits.
If they can intentionally under produce, and hurt people who didn't buy only because they didn't like the price at the stated maximum mintage, no reason they can't over produce, and also force people to make decisions based on inaccurate information.
I am fully aware many here think one is perfectly permissible while the other is a crime against humanity, but they really are opposite sides of the same coin, with the same potential negative impact, depending on whether you were induced to either buy or not buy, based on intentionally misleading information entirely within the control of the Mint.

My late-in-the-game order only went into "processing" early this morning or overnight. My guess is that they accepted an overage of backorders and will cancel as necessary to reach the 100,000 mintage.
Clearly. But why?
Because the system can't count to 100,000? Because they are afraid they won't be able to sell any cancellations later, after aggressively cancelling orders for over a month, and still having a significant quantity disappear in minutes once they were made available with no HHL at a very odd time of the day?
Or because they are actually hooking someone up? TBD, but after the games they played last year with the FH, anything is possible.

Yes. I am aware that is your position. I am nevertheless standing by my position that they are equal and opposite, and there is no reason to do either. Not producing because there is no demand is very different from publicly saying you will produce up to a number, and then only doing it sometimes when there is unsatisfied demand.
No need to keep going back and forth on it. Just agree to disagree.
The mint took extra orders to ensure it is a sellout, and will have to cancel all orders beyond the final mintage limits after shipping. They have done this many times in the past, so it is not anything out of the ordinary. The ones who have to worry are the late buyers of large orders, as they are probably last in line now.

Because he doesn't. I don't believe he even bought one from the Mint. Ask him.
Odd comment. You really don't think he would buy these at the Mint's offering price? @NJCoin will you please reaffirm your commitment to this issue?
Yes. I don't generally talk about what I do and don't buy, and don't post pictures of my collection, but of course, I bought as many Army privies from the Mint as I was able to. And, of course, anyone with available funds would buy as many of anything that they could immediately flip for a meaningful profit as they were offered.
@jmlanzaf is just posting nonsense for the sake of arguing about nothing. "Figurative Use:
The term "gem" is also used figuratively to describe something that is considered exceptional or valuable. This can include a painting, a book, a performance, or even a person. For example, "He's a gem of a person" means he is a very kind and helpful person. "

I suppose it could be a scratch but it looks to me like just a sliver of plastic or possibly lint.
Edit: maybe it is that area in front of the eagles beak, but there are a lot of finger prints/smudges in that area and in the top left so it's hard to tell from the photo.

Yes. Looks like lint. But there may also be something across from the eagle that looks like haze, although that looks like fingerprints on the capsule.
This is why the Mint should charge a restocking fee.
