Jimmy Carter presidential dollars

Jimmy Carter presidential dollars
The official United States Presidential $1 Coin Program originally did not include Jimmy Carter, as coins could only be issued for presidents who have been deceased for at least two years. Jimmy Carter, the 39th president, passed away on December 29, 2024. As of March 2025, congressional legislation is required to authorize minting a Jimmy Carter Presidential dollar coin and the accompanying First Spouse gold coin for Rosalynn Carter.
No official U.S. Mint Jimmy Carter presidential dollar coin exists yet, but Congress is aware of the need and is considering legislation to produce such coins, as was done previously for George H.W. Bush after his passing. If approved, it is likely a Jimmy Carter dollar could appear as soon as 2026.
Currently, collectors may find private or colorized commemorative versions honoring Carter, but these are not official U.S. Mint issues.
.....................................................
When the US Mint finally decides to release the Jimmy Carter presidential dollars, they key coin to be watching for is the reverse proof coin. When George Bush got his presidential dollar, they only made 11,305 reverse proof versions, which became the key coin in the presidential reverse proof series.

I collected all of them so far.
edited to add: I wish they stayed with the 2007/08/09/10 box cover and edge.
Not sure why I have two of 2016. ☺️
Obviously, we also need the accompanying First Spouse gold coin for Rosalynn Carter, along with dozens of 2026 250th anniversary of the US, historical coins, medals, and ornaments, at least 3 more superhero DC coins and medals, and a couple other commemoratives, Morgan and Peace dollars, eagles and buffalos, many in a few different finishes and with or without privies, some in gold, silver, platinum or palladium precious metals, maybe some in copper or bronze, and of course several mint marks. Toss in an updated pricing grid to account for inflation to make them insanely expensive, and all with HHL of 1.

Well, that just is not enough products.
Surely they can do more than those. Someone might be able to afford all of that.
After all it is the 230th anniversary of the 1795 Draped Bust Dollar; Half Eagle and Eagle. Think of all the privy lotteries. Could also commemorate some commemoratve halves from 1905, 1915, 1925, and 1935 if not more. The supply of collector money never runs out.

I don't think that is enough products for the mint to make this year to reach their sales quota.
Don't forget, we need the presidential brother, Billy Carter, and presidential daughter Amy Carter coin set.
I miss Jimmy, don't you? At least he could take a joke or two.
Not a great president but a truly great former president.
A .9999 Gold commemorative 'beer can' produced by the Mint would literally fly off the shelves and bring big bucks!!
The 1977 Carter inaugural medal had a run of mill reverse (The Presidential Seal has been used too many times on these pieces.) but the obverse isn't bad. Worse portraits have appeared on the presidential dollars.
Some years ago, it used to cost over $30,000 a year to keep up with all the stuff the mint issues. The number has to be far higher now with the price of gold.
As for the privy marks, they should be dumped in a privy. I'll never pay a premium for one. it gives new meaning to the term "gimmick."
Carter is definitely the President I hold in the highest regard among those within my lifetime. Exclusively for his pre and post presidential choices, actions, and accomplishments.
In my perception, he set an extraordinary standard for a visibly respectable moral compass and compassionate intent.
From Chalk River to Habitat for Humanity, probably the most fascinating guy sence Teddy Roosevelt.
