BRNA Show Report

The Blue Ridge Numismatic Association show is held every Summer at the Dalton, Georgia Convention Center. The Convention Center is a very nice facility with plenty of free parking located just off of I-75.

I left home on Thursday just after dawn. This time I did not stop at a Hardee's for breakfast. I am not sure that I will ever be able to stop at a Hardee's for breakfast again after the problems that I had two weeks ago. Just before I got to Dalton, I ran into interstate construction that had traffic very backed up.

I first stopped to see Darrell at AMWLDCOINS. He had an 1892 Half Dollar in PCGS AU 58+ listed on Ebay that I wanted to see. I have been wanting a nineteenth century Barber Half Dollar for several years. The coin looked better in person than on Ebay. I had brought along my 1900 Barber Half Dollar in PCGS AU 58+. We quickly agreed to a trade deal. Continuing on I said hello to Joe Sande. I made a pass of the bourse floor and did not see anything else that I needed.

The attendance at the show was not large and I did not see much action happening. There were a lot of dealers with raw coins, Morgan Dollars in slabs and a fair number of currency dealers. I saw miscellaneous silver rounds at $40 and low grade pre-1921 Morgans at $32. The concession stand had hot dogs for $4 and hamburgers for $6. Very reasonable compared to some convention centers.

I left the show in late afternoon. I ran into rain, fog and very heavy traffic. I arrived home before dark.

I am nearing 10,000 posts on the PCGS message boards. My 10,000th post will be a give way contest. The prize will be one of the nicest ever on these boards. You might want to keep an eye out for that.
