Can't believe that it did not have a waiting room this morning and it still is available.
CollectPure has the bid at $2,275 right now. I thought about buying this morning but decided against it. With the Army Privy weirdness and potential shipping loss (albeit one can choose express mail) , I personally don't want to stomach it.
It is a nice looking coin though. I like the sunflower and bee gold coin also !
I don't think I have ever noticed the US Mint stating that shipping losses were the issue for the buyer to be resolved with the carrier. Is this new? Also, how does one choose a secure shipping method?

You can't. You'd have to have your own private insurance.
I agree that insurance should be offered at the Mint website at the time of ordering. Good survey feedback point. The rub is that some carriers do not insure bullion etc..
Even if the USPS was arm twisted to offer insurance for bullion etc, dealing with the USPS claims etc. is not a pleasant experience.
This coin is one of the most aesthetically pleasing original designs out in modern coinage and a real gold version seems like it has good potential. Now lets get a privy mark too
Nooooo, don't even put that out there, a privy mark would clutter up the "aesthetically pleasing" design...we do not need more privy marks.

You could always just ad your own chop mark, which would kind of be like a privy.
If it shows sold out tonight wait till tomorrow when they cancel multiple orders and add them back into the ast again! Then they just keep adding more until it never sells out. Sound familiar? Ask the Army Eagle guys!

Are you saying that using Budget Shipping at $9.90 and I don't sign for it and he gets "LOST" The Mint doesn't replace it?
Are any of the shipping options insured?
I would think since it is signature required and if you don't get it you and you didn't sign for it you can do a charge back with your credit card company. No signature ,,,,, you win.

Is this the first time a gold (or any precious metal) coin was minted without a reeded or incused edge by the mint?
What's stopping someone from shaving a gram of metal off here and there?
(Just thinking out loud of course!)
Well, I'd guess that if you shaved a tiny bit off the edge then you wouldn't be able to sell it to most anyone for more than bullion value because it is damaged. So, I guess you are free to pay $2,175 for $1,650 worth of gold and then shave off 3% (about $50) and turn around and sell the damaged coin for around $1,650.
Why anyone would want to lose around $500 by doing that does not make sense to me, but you can go for it if you want.

Even after they drop to bullion value in the next couple of years, shaving wouldn't help because the coin shops are likely to weigh them
Looks like Sacagawea kicks Superman's rear end! (this is not a prediction that the Sac will be worth the purchase in the secondary market... only referring to the likely sell out of the issue at some point. )

They cast her face in golden hue,
A glint of courage, bold and true.
Sacagawea—guide and flame,
Whose silent strength outshone her name.
Through misted trails and winding streams,
She walked within the nation's dreams.
A mother's grace, a hero's soul,
Stamped in metal round and whole.
And from the mint, the coins took flight,
A tribute shimmering in the light.
Collectors came from far and near,
To hold her legacy so dear.
But oh! Too swift the shelves ran bare,
No more to find, just empty air.
The final clang, the last one sold,
A tale in bronze, a story told.
Now hands reach out, but find no more—
The mint is quiet, the stock no store.
She's once again a fleeting star,
A legend sealed in time afar.
So raise a cheer for what she showed,
That strength walks soft on any road.
Though coins are gone, her light remains,
In quiet hearts and lasting names.

If less than 1000 available, it will sellout by the end of today …

I was thinking the same thing, isn't that the reason edges became reeded in the first place?
