I was in a shop some time ago and a woman came in with a can of these and asked what they are worth. The shop owner said they have a face value of $1, not sure if she even knew what that meant. After a bit, she ended up selling them for .50 cents a piece. I'm sometimes baffled by the human race.

It is unfortunate. There are dealers like this.
This is seen in most hobbies. Im very much into firearms. Ive seen widows get utterly robbed by dealers. Its SO important that ones family is clear on the value of one's possessions.

I'm in. Haven't seen a waiting room...hmmmm, wonder if that's a good or bad sign. That might indicate a non-sellout and low demand.
It'll either be a huge run and we'll be shut out like before the waiting room.Or it's just not going to be popular right off.Who knows? It's all based on the mint prediction
Would be interesting to know if all 7500 were loaded or they are splitting the mintage like they did with Superman pieces.

Just a greedy move on the part of the Mint, IMO there's little justification for making a special anniversary coin after only 25 years,
Greedy? Their whole purpose is to make products that consumers want to buy. If this sells out by the end of the year (and all indications are that it will sell out within a few days), then they are doing their job and fulfilling their charter.
Edited to add: You can sell these for a $100 premium on Pure....

Got one easy I’m good with one personally but I’m certain the resale value will go up once they sell out. This coin is one of the most aesthetically pleasing original designs out in modern coinage and a real gold version seems like it has good potential. Now lets get a privy mark too

Did you guys know this ? Can you even insure a package you didn’t mail ?
$2K and more coins uninsured. Wait until some unscrupulous carrier gets wind of this.

Just a greedy move on the part of the Mint, IMO there's little justification for making a special anniversary coin after only 25 years,
25th anniversary of an unpopular coin does seem absurd.
The confusion about which ones are gold versus not will be humorous.
I think of the gold ones that went into space when I look at these which is part of the appeal to me.
Still, it does seem like an absurd money grab in many ways.
From the Mint site:
"Containing one-half ounce of .9999 fine 24-karat gold, this lustrous coin is among the world’s purest gold coins."
I've always wondered why the US Mint doesn't do 5 9s gold like the Canadian mint does.
