Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
Some nice Trade dollars shown here. I love @skier07's and @Tramp's toned examples.
A former "GotTheBug" coin from CRO and recent GFRC "gem" - "Just buy it now!" coin with golden loden green toning. I'm not a Trade dollar collector, but this coin glows for an XF45.

The only CAC verified PR 35 coin
Great coin. I remember bidding on it and what I thought was a semi nuclear snipe was dust in the wind.
I was prepared to bid higher than CAC price guide and here's why. I'm guessing this one entered circulation only a few years after 1883. Color is evident beneath the grey tone and I thought what a great way to own a proof Trade that I otherwise could not afford in a higher grade. Also both TPG's have graded circulated Trades but most have been cleaned or are damaged in some way so I think it is a good value and a truly rare coin. In my opinion older coins such as these are under rated with a CAC sticker and often sell for higher than listed values. Maybe folks over at Greysheet are missing the boat on these.

I've got a couple proofs:

PF-65 Cam
PF-66 DCAM
From my father-in-law. He got it while serving in the Merchant Marines during WW2 somewhere in Asia.

Mint State.
Proof.
Beautiful coin! The single, clear chop and type 2 reverse makes it one of the most appealing 75-Ss I’ve seen.
62? They don’t know how to grade choppies anymore
Not high grade but one of the coolest trade dollars I own.
This is a favorite of mine.

Did you know these were legal tender in China but not legal tender in Alaska or Hawaii?
