I’m going to try and make it Friday, Saturday and Sunday pending on if I’m pouring concrete for the big shop.

I stopped going several years ago. As a vintage player you can’t buy anything nice raw and graded is way overpriced.

I'm going Thursday and Friday. Going to finally get Richard Dent to sign his rookie card and the Bears team items I have. I almost have the entire 1985 Bears team autographs. Just missing Dave Duerson.
Also going to get my Billy Williams rookie card signed on Friday, and then submit all of the autographed cards I have to PSA.
After that first inning with Boyd on the mound I was thinking it was going to be a rough night for the crew. Priester tonight. scrap-heap to top of the rotation talent acquired for next to nothing from the Red Sox. They don't all work out, but when they do...
Our scrap-heaper Colin Rea could be lights out or serving up free souvenirs to the bleachers tonite. Which guy will show up? I cringe.

He's from Minnesota. We've evolved to be best suited to a lower average temperature than most. What is 80F to most feels like 130F to a Minnesotan.
I have often considered attending, but I just cant justify the cost. I can buy a lot of cards i need on the bay for the money i would be spending on airfare, hotel, food, car rental, entry fee etc.
If I lived within driving distance, you can bet I would be there

I have watched about 15-20 pack or box breaks on YOUTUBE and not once have I seen someone make a correct decision by opening the items. The only success I ever see is from Chris.
What I see is damaged cards from the gum, cards way off center, printing defects, and when a card does look nice (PSA8/9 contender) the card is a common.
Its funny, I was just going to start a thread about that abomination of a pack opening.
it is too bad that a historical pack was ruined all in order to get clicks/views.

I don't think it was so much the heat from the weak A/C that's being referenced. It was more like so many bodies were in the place you were feeling body heat and you could smell everybody's breath and know if they used deodorant. Just overcrowded.
The lines to the bathroom could take 20 minutes to get through so you had to plan ahead. Then the overall quality of the product being sold felt almost shockingly weak given this was The National and you expect to see Grade A stuff. I went for a couple days and could not find one sports card I wanted to spend money on. Bought some new Topps Chrome baseball boxes and that was a lot of fun but dont need to go to The National for that. It may be that these days the strategy is get there first and clean out the quality stuff. I have heard that.
I hope for everybody's sake who goes that Chicago is awesome and different than 2024. But I probably am done with The National too unless it comes to Baltimore again. The 2010s Nationals just felt so so different and so much more fun than what 2024 was.
I know Steve Hart loves the heck out of setup days, he doesn't need to pick 'em out of a crowd, they just walk right up and say "Here, take my money".
