Thank you. I have just over 50 percent of the set completed. It is a fun project. When I first created the registry set it was just me but now there are 2 other collectors creating sets as well.
What a cool project! Do you keep tabs on what players are still alive, and thus available to fill holes for you, vs ones that are gone and will be tougher? Also, do you have any idea if there are any "impossible" cards to obtain? Say, where a player had a card and then died shortly after it was printed?

Thanks Kevin. I don't keep tabs on who is still alive. I only keep a list of the cards I need. This set will be impossible to finish because there are a couple of cards that were never signed, for example - Babe ruth thrills card #401. I'm sure there are several others but I'm OK with that because I am enjoying this project and I love the readable cursive signatures.

Just picked up the Gronk mini anniversary refractor to go with my Brady. I really like the retro style inserts from 2015 Topps Chrome, especially since the base 2015 design is quite unattractive.

Hi Guys, I haven't' posted in quite a while. The Cutch 2009 Topps Gold was purchased in April; the others were subs that popped within the last several months. The McCutchen Hickory Minor league card and Isiah Bowman Sterling # 2/25 did pop in July I guess those qualify.

I went on a buying spree earlier this month of some random junk era wax boxes. My childhood friend met up with me this weekend, and we got to ripping.
One of the products was a box of 1992 Collector's Edge Football from BBCE. I was not at all familiar with this product. I only purchased it because it was $18. There are 24 packs in the box, containing 6 cards per pack. I didn't even read the box or the outside of the packs before ripping.

I was immediately struck by how odd the cards felt and the fact that there were these white "inserts" between every card.

So, upon closer inspection of the packaging, I discover that these cards are each supposed to be serial numbered to 100,000, they are made of plastic, and apparently were adhesive at one time. After 33 years, the adhesive was COMPLETELY gone and the white inserts between every card were actually the original backing. There was zero stickiness left, no bricking at all, and I could thumb through the pack as easily as if it was a brand new pack of cards. You can see that some of the serial numbers were still bold and legible, while others had faded badly, and some had no trace left, really, of any ink.

While looking over the packaging, I realized that on the outside of the box, they claimed that 2,500 John Elway autographs and 1,000 Ken O'Brien autographs had been randomly inserted. We both got a good chuckle out of that, and continued ripping, before opening each pack overdramatically in the hopes of an autograph. Lol! Yeah right!
I started to be disappointed in the product right away, as there was heavy duplication, and poor collation, as packs would nearly repeat themselves and I even got duplicate cards in the same pack. We pulled several Elways early on, and of course we'd make a big deal about it with the hype of the Backyard Breaks duo. "OH! IT'S A JOHN ELWAY AUTO!", only to reveal that it was not in fact an auto. Haha, haha, funny joke between friends...
Anyway, still had maybe 4 or 5 packs left, and it was my turn. I opened a pack, and first card was John Elway. "OH, OH, OHHHHH! IT'S A JOHN ELWAY AUTO!", and I ninja starred it over to my friend. It was not an auto. Haha!
The very next card in the pack, another John Elway. I said, "You're not going to believe it, but I got another John Elway, and THIS ONE HAS AN AUTO!" And I ninja starred that one over to him. It didn't have an auto either. He asked, "They were back to back in the pack?" I said, "Yeah, I really thought maybe that one was going to have an auto on it, haha!"
He decided to flip them over and look at the serial numbers. Goosebumps went up on his arms, and he said, "You. Are. Not. Going. To. Believe. This!"
I didn't know what he was getting at. I had just looked at both cards and flung them 4 feet across the table to him. What am I not going to believe?

THE AUTOGRAPH WAS ON THE BACK!
I had no thought to even look on the back. The photo on the front makes for a pretty dark card to sign, so I guess they just thought it would look better on the back, I don't know.
It's not numbered, but according to the box, it's one of 2,500, pulled after 33 years. It gives hope to all of those collectors out there still searching for the "Find the Nolan" or "Find the Reggie", and all of the other early autos that are still tucked away in the darkness. Get to rippin', folks!
Went to an antique store today. Something drew me to the book section, which is not normally something that I peruse. I was quickly scanning the titles when I saw this hardcover book with a colorful dust jacket.

I gladly paid the $6, and took it home with me. I look forward to reading it soon.

It's easy to miss, but in the third picture that I posted, right under the first "paragraph", it says First Edition. I'm no expert on publishing, so I'm taking it as if that is true.
They are not in perfect condition but much better than they seemed which was also a nice bonus; most of them are probably mid grade. The Mickey is pretty nice, too!
Nice pickup! I finished a mid-grade set a few months ago. The colors lit up my display case.

Just won another 1973 PSA 9. Its one of the hardest Palmer's to find in PSA 9. Only 109 Nines and no tens.
