Slow morning at home. Got bored. Haven't done much on CU, so I just threw out some coin posts. At least one person objected via PM, asking "what if everybody did that?"
If everybody did that, it would be an active forum, and I kinda thought sharing coins was what these forums were for.
But yeah, he had a valid point. It was a bit much, coming all at one time like that. Didn't mean to be annoying.
It's all cool Rob. I think it gets folks to post more. Over the years, your post have brought a lot of fun to the members here. I enjoy seeing new threads.
There is something to be said for both sides. New members often do it and it is annoying. The fact that you got a PM about it is what I have done twice in the past. Now, I enjoy seeing coins I will never own so bring them on. We all have a keyboard to go to another discussion rather than play moderator.
I wish members would post a brief note about the coin they post. It would be interesting to learn its history, what makes it special, the story of why and how you bought it, etc. This is not my original idea. I read this suggestion years ago on Coin Talk. That way, we learn something rather than look at pretty pictures.
There’s no reason to apologize and nice to see you posting again. Last time I checked this is a coin forum and everyone of your posts generated multiple responses with cool looking coins.
Rob, you did nothing wrong, you've been here for decades, no reason to say sorry for any of this.
Whomever is not OK with these threads can just ignore and read other threads, simple solution.
Nice seeing you post, many of us have passed on, stay well and stay connected.

FWIW....it wasn't me! 🤣😂
I didn't even notice your other threads today except for this one which I thought was a resurrected thread from the past because I haven't seen you post recently.
Some of us enjoy seeing people post images of their collections.
Some of us like posting images of their collections or a new purchases.
Im one of them.
On the other hand I like the guess the grade threads, learning as much about the history of our coins as possible.

I believe @lordmarcovan is a Moderator on Coin Talk Forum. Until his recent posts here that have caused a stir, that's the only place I've seen him posting. I agree that lots of posts make the place more active. I also see why some object to page one being semi-monopolized. I don't mind at all. I skip over most of these discussions m until I get bored and wish to see pictures what others collect.
Please take this as a suggestion: As for guess the grade (a very popular and educational game), I wish a coin could be posted and let us guess over a longer period. That way more members could be shown to be good graders from pictures. That's the way it is done on CT. On CU Right now, a five-year old can "win" guess the grade. After a few long-time players hit all around the correct answer, the YN picks whatever grade is left! Make sense?
I truly enjoyed each and every post. Just consider how many complaints you had vs how many viewers perused your posts. I saw some beautiful, well selected coins and cannot get enough of that. I say if you have more post em. I, for one, will enjoy them as well as your others. Thank you.

Just keep doing what you're doing. Is anybody twisting anybody else's arm to open and read a thread here? My position is don't like what I post don't read it. Grumps is gonna be grumps.

Well I’m really disappointed that you didn’t post a “Is this an error thread”. I found this one at the gas station just yesterday. Is it valuable?

Just ignore the private poster or respond to them privately. The public forum is for cool coin posts, which you have delivered.
I think that you are 100% okay with putting a few threads up.
Your right it's a coin forum.
Let's see some coins.

Your coins are terrific!
Keep posting and don’t worry about it.
My next thread should probably apologize for THIS thread eclipsing all the coin discussion threads I posted. Again, unintended consequences.
Ditto what others said. Sure beats the scammers and "I saw $70k for a bicentennial quarter on Google and Etsy."
