Thought about upgrading over the years, as I use my lower graded coin to offset the cost, but undoubtedly would end up keeping this too which makes it much tougher.

Similarly, my 1877 Indian Head Cent, VF25, and I would like MS 63 or maybe even 64 at some point in the future, but the one I have is so perfect for the grade and so inexpensive relatively that I would keep it and have two of them…
And yes, this would qualify for The thread, one of my favorites!

I paid $39 apiece for some 1921 BU MSD's today and people will probably ask, why would you do that for basically a 90% coin ? The answer is "because I like them so much". My favorite overall coin I own is a 1885 CC MS65 MSD "I have a 1883 one too" and the 1921's I give away as gifts to friends and family who think it is the coolest thing in the world to own a Historic MSD.
And it is.
I dont know, theres just something about them. And frankly tho I love all historic collection coins I could spend a lifetime just collecting America's rich numismatic history alone. I come here and just love looking at these coins and imagining where and when they came from.

My favorite coin is a whole lot less valuable than everything else in this thread so far and by all means nowhere near being the most valuable in my collection.
It's the 1996-W dime.
This coin is what catapulted me into the hobby. Not just interested like picking something out of pocket change or receiving a gift from a relative, I mean this is the one coin that pulled me into numismatics properly and launched my lifelong obsession.
I'll never forget seeing its listing in the Red Book for the first time. The W mintmark made it stand out from every other coin I was looking at and reading about. It was affordable for my childhood budget, too. I just had to have it.
Once I bought the coin, still in its cellophane wrap, I had put it into a small picture frame where it still resides.
The 1996-W dime was my gateway into the deepness of the hobby. One tiny variation from the norm, something that probably shouldn't exist but it does, and from there I learned the importance of mintmarks, of mintages, of release methods, of varieties, rarities, and more. Every time I look at it, I remember the hobby isn't about having the biggest bucks, but about enjoyment and personal fulfillment.

Nencoin, that's a really pretty Half Penny; I had one dated 1858 but was terribly worn.
I remember finding my first British Half Penny...and my first American Half Penny.

The coin below is one of my favorites. I purchased it raw in 2019 from a European auction house that I had never done business with before, so a bit of a gamble based on their auction pictures. Before purchasing this coin, I was mostly a US coin collector. Afterwards, I really dove in world coins. I like the artistry, history, and how much coin I could buy for the money compared to US. TrueView (graded out at MS63) and pictures by @indeetlib .

It’s an American Congress Fugio Cent hub impression. PCGS coin number 512720. Only one graded. If it were one of the two or three known Newman-1 CC issues (not merely a hub impression) it would be easily worth a million bucks in that condition.
