USPS does it again, second time now

What in the world is up the United States Postal Service.
They are aggravatingly consent.
I won an auction June 30th at Great Collections, great experience as always.
But, waiting on the coin to be delivered has been - no so great.
USPS sat on it for nine (9) days in distribution center (near by) and then off to Puerto Rico.
This the second time they have sent a package to PR.
Last time this happened the item eventually showed up, pretty quickly.

It sounds like if you want to get your packages sooner your best option might be to move to Puerto Rico.

Perhaps you should select the FedEx option? It's cheaper than USPS Priority and only a few dollars more than USPS FIrst Class.
Or move to California for next day shipping

Probably will going forward - use FedEx.
Thank you,

It's only going to get worse even as they raise rates and cut costs. This week I'm seeing a lot of packages being sent to the wrong distribution centers. The NY area to Florida used to be reliably 2 days with priority, now 3-4.
I pay monday morning from sunday night auction choose 2 day fedex and have coin on wednesday i live in new jersey
Things are slow right now. Waiting on some Mylar sleeves coming from the USA to me in Canada. No updates for almost 2 weeks then yesterday the tracking updated and the package is moving along.
I had FedEx deliver to the neighbors recently despite a signature being required. I thought the package was lost but luckily they brought it over the next day. Issues happen with all of the carriers unfortunately.
Fedex isn't perfect either. Had a package arrive at my local Phoenix hub only to be routed back out to Minnesota and back for sight seeing tour.

As long as they do arrive, that's the key.
If the coins get around the US in a sight-seeing trip before they get to me, it's okay.
Heck, the coins might be thinking, "Man, we're probably going to be with him a LONG time, how about one more trip. Puerto Rico sounds nice!"
“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”

Theres 3 different signature options for Fedex fwiw, "indirect" can be delivered to someone at a neighboring address, and "direct" has to be the delivery address. "adult" is the most secure because it requires them to actually check id in case its alcohol.

It might have been direct (whichever GC uses). What I do know is that GC disabled the option to have it picked up at a nearby facility. And the page showed it as signed by the same name as was on the package but that’s not who “signed” for it.
Yeah, that is the USPS standard journey. I have a proof IHC coming and it went from Irvine to Dallas, which is very close to me, and then they sent it to New Orleans. Happens all the time, just different places.
i had a package go to guam
recent package got to my distr center then go to one 5 hours away. it sat a couple of days. considering everything later and that it was a distr center in a large city, i put a find package on it. it was out of there the next day. gave everyone who helped great reviews on usps survey
I sent a package to Guam from Illinois and it went to Puerto Rico first then made it's way to Guam. That must have been a fun trip!
if only it were me
I have recently learned it's best for me NOT to comment on anything related to USPS anymore....but in all seriousness I hope you receive your coins soon!

Why I like those flat rate padded envelope with a flat rate small box inside and lots of tape. That package is built for a long journey.
It's always interesting to read about a shipped coin travelogue journey. The sights it's seen and it's eventual arrival date.
I had FedEx not deliver because I wasn't home and a signature was required. The very never next day, they left it on the front porch without a signature.
I should have saved the envelope. 15 it so years ago, I sent a small package to Belgium. Somehow, they routed it to Benin. It arrived back at my house after 5 or 6 months with postmarks from all over the globe. ..but never Belgium.
I have usually had great luck with the Postal service. In over 50 years of buying coins thru the mail i have only had 2 coins stolen. One coin though, had a very interesting travel experience .
the coin was shipped by GC and made it to the Saint Paul post office which is about 175 miles from me. Then for unknown reasons it was sent to San Francisco. Then for 11 days it traveled back and forth accross the bridge between Oakland and San Fran. I was just beginning to lose all hope when it then made a ground travel trip that took it to Chicago; where it was once again flown to Saint paul and then to me. James
I’ve had better luck with USPS than FedEx. I just received my GC winnings, today. Auction ended Sunday and I received it today (just under five days later). Now that’s service by both GC and USPS!! I’m sorry that you’re dealing with this. Hope you receive it soon. I had my mail going on a sightseeing tour, once, about 10 years ago, but luckily it hasn’t happened since. No system is perfect. Especially, when humans are involved.

Unfortunately I’ve recently been seeing more of these ‘sightseeing trips’ on my packages too. It’s annoying but long as the package get to its destination with all its contents that’s all that matters.
I’ve also been using different services and carriers as a result.

Had a fedex pkg today delivered to neighbor today. Luckily photo showed the pkg location. And went over, they weren't home, but pkg there. My UPS guys/gals are pretty good, but have always been a USPS shipper with only a couple of issues in 20 years.
