Peak Rarities: THANKS!
I want to thanks Peak Rarities for the Lafayette dollar below. They found the coin for me in an auction I would never have seen, checked it out for quality and then bought it for me. I had been looking for a Lafayette dollar I liked for at least 4 years and could not find one. Without their help, I expect I'd still be looking. So this is a shout out of thanks for their help!

Beautiful coin. It is the DuVall-3D die pair. That constitutes about 1/12 of the extant population. I catalogued 99 out of 1163 certified, with duplicates removed. Above yours are only two 3D ones, both in PCGS MS66+ (one has CAC too), MS66 CAC is as close as you get to that. The varieties are all easily distinguished by the position of the lowest leaf on the olive branch on the reverse. For the 3D, however, it is even obvious from the obverse. The dot between F and A is not centered, but is clearly closer to the A. If PCGS ever does the 5 varieties (1A, 1B, 2C, 3D, and 4E), your piece is well positioned for a registry set.

I too have found @PeakRarities to be absolutely top-notch in so many ways - honesty, knowledge, integrity, very fair pricing for quality, etc. If they have a coin I need, it’s a no-brainer buying it!

I love it when my tastes overlap with our customer’s, things seem to work out the best when I can get as excited about the coin as you can. Like I mentioned, I had never considered adding a classic silver commem to my collection before, but If I did, it would be this one (edit for clarity - the OP's coin).

Try the link again, I was experimenting with different lighting and I think that one more accurately depicts the coin. Probably too much exposure in the previous video.

Yes, that is a diamond in the rough. The vast majority of Lafayettes are downright ugly IMO, and they give Monroes competition on the ugly scale.
