Roosevelt Dimes...
resized.jpg)
Hey everyone... I was gifted a set of Roosevelt Dimes. This set was likely put together by my brother when he was 13 or 14 yo. from paper route tips. I think those are his fingerprints...
Seriously though... I don't really collect them... there's only about $120 or so worth of silver ,nothing UNC that I can see. The only real connection I have is the link to my brother... which brings me to:
How would you best display these?
Keep them in the folder...or, I just happen to have another Wayte Raymond album and inserts... or, something else?

i like blue whitmans for low end coins
I hate folders myself so I'd go with the Wayte Raymond pages you have or try and source one of those Capital Plastic holders.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
the capital plastic sounds goods because you can personalize
but there's someone here that makes custom albums? i think the only hard part would be customizing the cover
I appreciate nostalgia so I would keep them as he left them. If I had something like that from my sister I would definitely keep it as is, particularly since she has been pushing up daisies for almost six years.

Sorry for your loss. I would buy a display frame and maybe TheDinosaurMan can make you a folder?
God comes first in everything I do. I’m dedicated to serving Him with my whole life. Coin collecting is just a hobby—but even in that, I seek to honor Him. ✝️
Leave them just as they are. That is how he collected them ... in the Whitman folder. The folder is just as important as the coins when it comes to a collection with sentimental value.
Agree
They would look cool in the Wayte Raymond boards, but leaving them in the original folder is probably a better idea if the folder is in as good a shape as it looks in the picture.

The Wayte Raymond option sound good to if you don’t have to buy them. The value in the dime set is mostly in the silver value and how you remember your brother. When I was a kid, I had trouble with dimes falling out of the Whitman folders.
Thanks Everyone... I agree... I'm going to keep it "as is" which is part of the Core of the Collection. ... A Kid Collector's Paradise: All in Whitman Folders (no poke-throughs and the folders seem to be in great shape)... A full set of Lincoln Cents Vol II; Full Set of Jefferson Nickels to 1980; Full set of Silver Roosevelt Dimes; Full 20th C. Type Set; a 1961 Mint Set (for Birth Year) and a 1976 Bicentennial Set.
My brother also gifted me mostly filled Indian Head Cent and Lincoln Cent Volume I Collections... both in Whitman Albums. I'm going to fill in the remaining few coins and the Key Dates will likely be bought certified... likely a "Copy" for the 1856 Flyer... yeah, there's a hole in the album for it! Many of the IHC's likely came from my Grandfather and have some sentimental value... my brother was 10 years ahead of me to the "coffee can" under the steps at my Grandfather's summer home. lol!
The partial Buffalo Nickel collection was in a Whitman Folder as well... but I had already started this series last year in a Wayte Raymond album and just incorporated some of his coins in with mine... I was able to complete the album this past Baltimore show.
Thanks All...

I’d keep it as is, maybe put a picture of him in there and his name. Connections get lost sometimes..
The dimes seem to be a pretty snug fit. The only issues with coins falling out look to be with the Peace Dollar... looks to have been taped in at one point. The Morgan Dollar is fairly snug, but I don't want to play with it! I remember the worst for falling out were these big silver coins...

The Whitman folders I had were from the 1960s. Perhaps there were subsequent improvements.
You should get custom picture frames made for the old folders to protect and display them. You can even get them labeled as a memorial for your brother and family.
