Just Sniped a Major Rarity in the Vermonts, the Ryder 26 !!!!!

There are a few major Keys, obtainable keys, in the Vermont series. My method of collecting has been to Pay Attention to eBay and the major auction houses...to see if any appear. A few years ago I snared a Ryder 1 (30-40 known) earlier this year the Ryder 15 ( 20 known) amid tonight from Steve Hayden on eBay, the Ryder 26. This coin is somewhat under the radar except to specialists. It shares the obverse die with Ryders 24 and 25, but has a unique "tragic" reverse which has a full width die crack near the upper reverse. Of course unknown as to how many were struck but suffice to say Sylvester Crosby was unaware of this variety upon writing his masterwork in the 1870s. The coin has went unrepresented in many major collections. This is truly a major addition leaving only the Ryder 30 Backwards C as ths remaining obtainable key. To explain, after Ryder's era, about a half dozen varieties have been recognized and known from populations is 3-6 examples. IF you choose to put these in your Vermont set, you render it uncompleteable. No one has completed the set in this manner. So.......... All we can hope for is completing the series as Ryder knew it. This one get me much closer. Now enjoy a real rarity, desirable in any condition, and a coin which for its condition and rarity I feel $1670 was a Fantastic price!! 1788 Vermont Ryder 26 VG+ R6 30 known

Awesome coin! Do you happen to have a weight in grains of this RR-26?
I don't think weight is very useful in differentiating the varieties.
@jmlanzaf
Agreed. The weight helps distinguish the different RR-26s from each other though. It’s not to compare to other varieties, just comparing to other RR-26s.
