What do you think of this 37 RE CBHDollar? Looks off to me, so I vote counterfeit.

Look at the stars. Do they look like any stars you’ve seen on any half dollars before or after? So fake.

Not to derail thread but our local oldies radio station does a regular dribble of facts. Yesterday they claimed that by the end of the 19th century 1 coin in 3 circulating was counterfeit. Still not quite sure I believe that. James

Contemporary counterfeit struck from hand cut dies and intended to circulate as money.

Counterfeit. Eagle looks off. Also fields have a weird sheen. Stars have an indent.

No, I don't believe so. That is a modern piece.

I blew it up a bit and enhanced with some grain. Is it made of silver?

These are silver plated. They are modern counterfeits that you can buy in quantity on the web. You can buy as many as you like on Etsy. They are labeled as nickel and brass with silver plating.

This post was originally in April and have put away the counterfeit. Definitely not silver, weight wise. I would love for it to be a contemporary counterfeit, but doubt it.
