The day was filled with the sounds of helicopters flying in the skies above Oahu’s Hawaii Kai neighborhood. One was seen hovering in place just above a precarious mountain ridge. Another was seen with a rescue basket dangling below.
Stranded and injured hikers in high and remote mountain areas are frequently rescued by helicopters here in the Hawaiian Islands. Per today's TV Broadcast there have been 104 such rescues this year to date.
