A couple of my buddies were talking them up and I tried telling them that this team was not going to. make it interesting, they argued with me and then stopped now they want Cora fired lol
The Red Sox are a hard team to warm up to. Far too much drama in the clubhouse, Devers, Casas, Bregman and let's toss in the now apparently inept Trevor Story, who is now in the "DFA him" conversations. The link below expresses my sentiments over the months and years about the team. It's almost like management is operating from a junior college perspective, when in fact they should have doctoral degrees in the psychology of managing MLB players, whose egos and attitudes permeate the atmosphere of the clubhouse and on field play.
Cora (the cheater), is not and will never be the type of manager a Red Sox team needs. It is unfathomable to me that he is being paid $ SEVEN MILLION for 6 months, although they say per year, it's 6 months. Cora, looking like a mannequin, spins his index finger when they decide not to challenge, and saunters out to the mound during the obligatory "6th inning removal of the starting pitcher", otherwise, he looks like his dog died while seen looking into the distance from the dugout. Most likely thinking of how he can't wait to get back to Puerto Rico in the Fall, for surely this team will NOT make the playoffs at this rate. Anybody here think Cora is worth $43,209 per game for 162 games? Average game is 3 hrs, that's $14,403 per hour.
The stats are all there, the missteps, the horrible contracts, the mismanagement of issues that should have been conducted in private. Why on earth they don't move up prospects or deserving players from AAA and sit some stars, or starting position players is a mystery to me. There are players on the IL that won't be back till July or August, by then the fat lady will surely have sung. As for me...she already has.
Winning a much needed game last night slipped away like the Titanic hitting the iceberg. Up 1-0 in the top of the 9th, the Brewers tie it and go extras. KABOOM a walk off grand slam to crush the Red Sox.
The only way the Red Sox could have had a worse off season was to have signed Juan Soto to his massive contract instead of letting him go to the Mets! They should have signed a couple of those great pitchers that were available and gotten rid of some of the deadwood they have. The Cora signing was the biggest mistake of the off season. Anthony needs to be on board now, to hell with keeping him in the minors so they can get an extra year from him leaving the team.Story has seen better days and its time for him to take a hike! As bugs bunny used to say "THATS ALL FOLKS"!
They have now lost 15 one-run games. With the season only 1/3 gone, they're on track to set a record nobody wants.
Another walk off game??? Where's the defense??? Time to sit some players (or DFA them) and advance some AAA guys.
Cora (the cheater) was PATHETIC in his comments after the game. Nothing but platitudes and his epiphany of "we gotta play better" wow, how intuitive. Why did Cora pull Bello with only 4 2/3 innings pitched??? Don't they have a bullpen issue, why impact the pen when Bello could have gone longer. one of the WORST decisions in Red Sox history was to reup this bozo cheating manager at 3/$21m. Fire him!!!!
They eat contracts bigger than Coras all the time. Chew and swallow quickly before the season gets any deeper into it. Just another screw up by upper management. They never should have not had a 1st baseman waiting in the minors to come . I can not understand why people keep filling up the seats at Fenway to watch a struggling team attempt to win a game
They are no 8 1/2 games out!
Players like Cora hes not going anywhere for a while. As long as fans keep showing up they arent going to make any major changes. Now if the stadium was empty every night they might actually start spending again. Their payroll is basically just all tied up in 5 guys

Cora is very expendable especially with the team sinking like a stone. Rumors are already swirling about his tenure...just google Red Sox news. I for won vote for the cheater to be gone, the sooner the better. He isn't worth $7m for 6 months of mediocrity.
Red Sox nation will continue to go to Fenway results are almost secondary, as they have been well steeled to disappointment over many years...2004 being the savior. Generations have cheered them, win or lose, and it will continue for generations to come. Fenway Park is almost shrine-like, going there is for many much like a religious experience. The history within that park is second to none.
I've seen Mickey Mantle and Ted Williams play there among many others.
Fenway was a great take in my younger years but I don't fit in those seats anymore. They were too small when I was 18 never mind as I am now 85 and my a$$ is much larger but that's ok as I am now in Albuquerque anyway and have been since1991!

Its a blessing and a curse that fans always show up. Im with Tommy where the stadium itself like Wrigley is awful other than the history. The seats are to small and to close, to many obstructed views.
It is great for passionate fan bases, but its also a curse since owners dont really need to spend to get fans there. Boston is one of the biggest brands in MLB, they even have a ton of fans around the country that just like them for not being the Yankees bandwagon fans.
Theres no reason Boston should ever be out of the top 10 in payroll but they are. As long as people show up they have no reason to change or care more. I dont personally like Cora but he is one of the reasons why Bregman signed there even though hes hurt now. A bunch of the players do like him and his salary is a drop in the bucket even with the fans wanting him fired.
Firing him would change nothing. Firing the GM and President of operations and owners caring more about the team would change something
The present owners of the Red Sox bought them and for a few years were gung ho about winning a World Series . Well they won four of them but now they don't Give a sh-t about them or their fans. I would not go to any more Fenway games even if I lived there which I have not for 35 years.
Wow, 7-6 and 4-3. Gotta be getting close to an MLB record of one run losses this season. Ole Cora seemed pretty jovial in the 9th, must be thinking how sweet it is that he's got management hooked for that $21m someone was crazy enough to give him. He'll be pounding down those Medalla Lights soon enough in PR. Said it b4, I'll say it again...there is NO post season for the Red Sox. Crappy management = crappy results. The Fat Lady is warming up, and Dandy Don ain't far behind.
Getting rid of Cora WOULD make a difference. BTW, the size of the seats doesn't mean squat, Red Sox Nation has been happily filling them for a long, long time, and it ain't gonna change now. Steve, sorry your backside has apparently exceeded the design of the seats...but, hey, you got that recliner, parking is free, no lines to the men's room, food is free and great, got the A/C going and the clicker in hand. Life is good.
Oh, I wonder where Masa is...wasn't he supposed to return after his arm was at full strength...or so Cora said? Such a waste of $$$. Oh, more good news, the team has now reached double digits out of first, now at 10 back, at .460 and a jaw dropping 2-8.
Not much will change at the Fens, the Red Sox are John Henry's cash cow. They may not be 100% at the gate, but I doubt its very far off.
@tommyrusty7 said:
You forgot the errors they are making! I believe they are leading the majors in errors this year!
Theyre right between the Rockies who are number 1 in less games and the White Soxs. Not a group you want to in lol. Colorado and Boston do have significantly more than any other team though
Pretty much says it all. The owner is clearly more focused on other ventures, I'm convinced the Red Sox organization is just a cash cow to him. Maybe I'd think the same way if I were in his shoes. I think he's interested, but just not really into it as only a big Red Sox fan could be.
Gotta give him credit, he stopped the demolition of Fenway Park, instead he refurbished and added Green Monster seats. Hard to believe this guy used to tour with a couple of rock bands...then his genius kicked in while trading commodities and he never looked back, his net worth now is over $6B.
As I type, its 5-0 Yankees...and the slide continues.

I wonder if his wife has or how much she makes decisions on what he is going to be doing, she might hold all the keys behind the scenes
Elegant lady with a killer smile. Surely she has some input into her husband's decisions, which appear to be more involved with soccer and racing, the Red Sox organization is a distant trailing 3rd place.
The Red Sox show flashes of coming together as a team but I doubt if they can make it to the playoffs as they need another year of working together to make it from a young team just learning the game to a team that is coming together as a unit. It will fun to watch them grow but painful at times to watch.
Red Sox grab a nice extra innings last night, especially against the first place Yankees. Time will tell, but I'm still convinced the playoffs are a bridge too far this year. Judge smoked that ball, maybe with just a little more zing, it might have reached the Mass. Turnpike.
Judge would make a big difference to any team in either league. His only downfall is he is prone to injuries every year and if he gets injured this year the Yankees are in for a big fall from the pennant race.
I was impressed with the Sox pitching today.
Bello finally is putting some good starts together and Whitlock looks to be going well his last couple of appearances.
The Sox have cut the Yankees lead in half over the past week.
Reports are the Red Sox traded Devers to the San Francisco Giants forJordan Hicks, Kyle Harrison Hicks and more. I don't know any of those players but am glad to see Devers go.
It sounds like a salary dump to me, Devers has an attitude problem and I am glad to see him depart the Sox. I have been watching him closely this season and don't like the way he just sits up on a cooler and chews whatever he is chewing when he goes up to bat he swings at crazy pitches. The players they got for him are mediocre at best ( Hicks and Harrison). Great move by the Red Sox as he was not a team player. Good bye, good riddance !
Love the trade myself. I hated Devers attitude. I. at one time in my long career in bookbinding, had to dump a young manager I had, who refused to do what needed to be done for the good of my company. I fired him immediately and put someone with little experience in his position and was rewarded with his newly acquired skills. Sometimes losing something needs to be done to win something else!

Thats exactly what it was. They chose to not really get talent back in exchange for unloading his contract.
Im shocked that the Giants were willing to eat the whole contract. Someone will end up getting fired over this in a couple years when their window to win starts closing. They did desperately need offense but Devers might be in for a rude awakening in the NL West parks
One of my friends put it perfectly. Both the Devers and Sale trades would have been vetoed in a fantasy league lol
Could Dobbins be the key to the Red Sox winning the American League East?
So far he is looking like the up and coming pitcher the Red Sox need to be the number 2 starter on the Sox!
It's early yet but he looks to have the balls to handle that roll just ask the Yankees what they think of him?
The Red Sox have NO shot at the AL East, and NO shot at being in the playoffs. I've said this since before the season opened...too many revolving doors and mismanagement of assets. BTW, current odds have the Sox fighting for last place with the Orioles to finish the season. I had the Os to do well this year, so, I could be wrong, but don't let the recent sweep of the Yanks get you too excited. One player does not make a team
If you like, we can have a friendly wager of dinner at the best restaurant at the Route 66 casino. This of course requires me to be in Albuquerque, but you never know. OR, a restaurant in ABQ of your choice. LMK so I can research the best steakhouses in ABQ.
Devers appears to be giddy about being in SF, says he's willing to play ANY position to help the team win. Fresh air does wonders for a sour attitude.
BTW, I thought Roman Anthony was touted as the savior of the Red Sox, like he could turn water into Pinot Grigio. Current stats say for 27 ABs, he has 1 run, 2 hits, 1 HR and batting 0.074. Not exactly on fire.
I have no Idea where the Red Sox will finish this year. I was ecstatic they beat the Yankees at both locations last week but that was just not a true picture of either team. Any team can win a few games in a row but the Sox still have a big problem with a good pitching staff. Management did not do enough over the winter to make winning a guarantee for them. I like Dobbins attitude toward winning but he has only pitched a few games in the majors. Anthony has not been the savior the media was claimed he was . I did not say I thought the Sox were going to win the pennant this year though it would be nice.
Anthony is just a rookie and has not shown anything yet that would propel the sox to new heights. There is a big difference between a minor league player and a major league player.
I was sorry we did not get together when you were in Albuquerque a couple of years ago and if you ever get back this way I would hope you give me a shout and I would love to have a steak or whatever with you. I gave up betting on the Sox a couple of years ago. My wife will not be able to attend though as she just is not able to go out anymore .
I think now is a great time to enjoy the Red Sox. Enjoy them ,they have a great bunch of young talent. Play the game, try your best play hard and have fun.
Campbell the latest Sox example of Red Sox giving away a ton of money to a player before they even see him play. An 8 year massive contract and he did not last even half a season in the big leagues before being send back down to the minors. Maybe I should ( at 85) try out for the team! I could use the money!
Sox do have a shot at the playoffs mostly because so many AL teams arent trying. The Os pitching fell off a cliff but so did their offense which is surprising. They shouldnt be this bad with the talent they have.
Anthony really hasnt done much so far but was considered one of the best prospects. There seems to be a real issue with the front office and Breslow even admitted publicly that wasnt the best deal they could get for Devers
@Basebal21 said:

This is absurd on its face. How could you honestly post such nonsense? You oftentimes post garbage like this simply on conjecture. So many AL teams arent (sic) trying? Really? Put up some proof of the so many AL teams that "arent (sic) trying."
While you're searching, post something about Breslow's admitting publicly that wasn't the best deal they could get for Devers.
As for the Red Sox making it to post season play...even the local Bostonian writers believe things look pretty dim.
Dobbins didn't have his best stuff last night but kept the Sox in it until they got could put up enough runs. We finally have a closer with a fast ball which sure helps the situation. They need to lock him up with some of the saved money from that idiot Devers. Giving money to unproven players is a crap shoot at best! Only 4 games out now as the Yankees are gradually sinking in the ratings.

You cant take personal shots at me all you want, its a bad look and makes no sense but thats up to you
The simple fact is the Red Sox are in a wild card position position if the season ended today. The Rays and the Blue Jays are the other two. The Red Sox arent a very good team but neither are a lot of the AL especially with the Os forgetting how to hit with all the talent they have.
Them making the playoffs wouldnt be a sign of them being great rather the amount of AL teams not trying. Tampa owners are actively trying to sell the team, the White Sox are a joke
Theres only a couple teams legitimately done for already, the Rockies and White Sox. Every team with less than 35 wins is basically out of it barring some insane month. Any team with 40 wins or more has a shot even if that is because of the teams theyre playing
Like it or not the Red Sox are in the mix. The AL east isnt going to put 4 teams into the playoffs but we are close to the all star break and they would if the season was over.
Its very easy to find Breslows comments about the Devers trade
_ You cant take personal shots at me all you want, its a bad look and makes no sense but thats up to you_
You grammar usage in the English language needs some serious help! BTW, I'm challenging your postings, not taking personal shots at you. Well, we certainly don't want any bad looks here, do we? Your sentence doesn't make any sense.

HUH??
Which AL teams are "not trying"? Do you actually believe a professional baseball teams is "not trying"?? It could be called a serious slump, or lack of talent vs their opponents, but I doubt they're not trying.
_ Like it or not the Red Sox are in the mix. Once again, the season isn't over, it ends on September 28th.

Really? If its so easy, surely you could post a link to Breslow's comments. I don't do your research.
I'll be looking forward to your future litany of thought-provoking and enlightening postings, of which you will you continue to provide zero supporting evidence.

"New flash"? If you want to be the grammar police make sure you make 0 typos.
I dont do your research either if you arent informed and want to be so confrontational.
It takes less than a minute to find Breslow comments about how the best deal wouldnt be good enough. Or to know that the Red Sox ownership group is paying a ton of money for transfer fees for soccer players. Or that some of the players were surprised by the deal
The season isnt over but theres very clear trends. Teams in the wild card spots at this time have a chance. Teams that are 5 or more games back from the WC spot have a very minimal chance. Theres 6 teams in the AL with 40 wins, theres 11 in the NL. Its easier to catch up in the division being behind a team you will play again. WC teams have to generally hope someone else loses while they win which
Just because the Mariners, Cleveland, Texas or the Royals might pass them doesnt mean they dont have a shot in the bad AL. The Rays have no stadium and are trying to sell the team, they arent going to be spending much money.
The Rays are not known for spending a lot of money.
The Red Sox are spending money but waste it on stupid deals. They also need a 2nd baseman badly. Move Story over to 2nd and highly rated 3rd baseman Myer over to his natural position at S/S.
The Orioles have had a lot of injuries.
The Yankees have injuries too which have hurt.
The Blue Jays are just coasting along in the middle of the pack.
The question is who is going to make it in the wild card spot to only lose. and close out their season later than the rest.
OK, I give up! The Red Sox under Cora and Red Sox management are going nowhere this year.
Yesterday they get a 3 run lead in the 1st inning and then give up 5 runs immediately to one of the worst teams in the League.
This past winter there was good pitching available but they choose to hire only lousy ones to fill the holes.
Now they say they are going all in at the trade deadline!
That is bullshit!

You forgot the errors they are making! I believe they are leading the majors in errors this year!
Theyre right between the Rockies who are number 1 in less games and the White Soxs. Not a group you want to in lol. Colorado and Boston do have significantly more than any other team though
I knew that, I kinda thought I'd piled on enough.
Rafaella with a walk off 308 foot homer in Botton of the 9th. Just missed the foul pole!

Linda Pizzuti Henry...
She is From Lynnfield, gorgeous woman for sure
I don't know any of those players but am glad to see Devers go.
https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/rafael-devers-traded-to-giants-red-sox-superstar-headed-to-san-francisco-in-stunning-mlb-blockbuster/
Wow, surprised me, glad the attitude is gone. Even though the Sox got a handful of no names, they do unload the salary.
The trade probably needed to be done for the Sox, but you know how these things work — a pissed off Devers could now help the Giants win the WS.
Great game tonight! Devers 0 for 5
Unloading that piss poor attitude and bloated contract was the best move the Sox have made in awhile
As for the Red Sox making it to post season play...even the local Bostonian writers believe things look pretty dim.
https://www.betmassachusetts.com/odds/mlb/boston-red-sox
_The simple fact is the Red Sox are in a wild card position position if the season ended today. _
New flash...the season isn't ending today, which makes your statement absurd on it's face. More lame postings.
Them making the playoffs wouldnt be a sign of them being great rather the amount of AL teams not trying.
HUH??
Which AL teams are "not trying"? Do you actually believe a professional baseball teams is "not trying"?? It could be called a serious slump, or lack of talent vs their opponents, but I doubt they're not trying.
_ Like it or not the Red Sox are in the mix. The AL east isnt going to put 4 teams into the playoffs but we are close to the all star break and they would if the season was over. _ Actually, I'd like to be wrong and see the Red Sox in the mix, however, I just don't see them accomplishing post season play...I think I posted a supporting link, unlike your postings.
Baseball21
All hat, no cattle.
