the thing i love about this thread is the authenticity. it's why i make every attempt to post my action before it happens. i want people to see my thought process before the good, bad and sometimes very ugly happens.

the Thunder wager is not one i'd recommend to anyone. betting a lot to win a little is generally never a good idea. i have to connect 8 out of 9 times on a bet like that just to break even in the long run. but, it was me in a raw, tilted state. if an observer was on the fence with such a stunt and ultimately decided it was a stupid move that they'd never attempt, then mission accomplished. they'd be right. but sometimes when you gamble you lose your head, and when that happens to me i'm not going to hide it.

Interesting wager. Never saw that one before.

If I'm reading it correctly, ya gotta hit exactly at 17, 18, 19, or 20.

It's a winning margin parlay meaning for that particular bet your team needs to win by 17 to. 20 points ie 17,18,18 or 20 points

The odds are pretty good so I buy a few 17-20, 12 to 16 or 8 to 11 type bets

Cashed 1 of my 2 Memorial plays. Small profit, but did not lose. That's okay. Made a small play on the Pacers to win the finals.
Next up Canadian Open and Belmont Stakes.
Congratulations to all of you recent winners. Keep a cashin.

i've been looking forward to this post for months. it has finally arrived. my book has a tiered VIP rewards program whereby you level up based on your activity (casino, live casino, sportsbook). it took forever and a day to move up from Platinum III to Diamond I, but i'm there now. my reward was a no-catch 500$ infusion into my account. i could withdraw it this very moment if i wanted to. but i don't want to!

    now for the fun.

@stevek has been such a great contributor to this thread, even though he's not gambling himself. but he's about to, because 100$ of my "free" money is going to him. but there's one catch: he has to use it on the ⛳️ US Open, which commences a week from Thursday. when the lines surface early next week, i'll post all of them. stevek you can drop the entire benjamin on one wager or divvy it up.....your choice. if when you win, you'll receive the amount you bet plus what you won. i'll zap it to you via PayPal.

    really looking forward to this!

"$312.26 plus the profit boosts and no sweat bets added on future wagers."

I stated this after you hit the 2 dime bet. I figured when they saw that bet amount, they were going to move you up in class. Frankly, I normally don't compliment bookies, but that was a pretty nice "gift" the amount of $500. Of course we all know that bookies certainly aren't our friends, they obviously have ulterior motives. However that being said, I have to say that was a very nice gesture on their part.

I know you use that offshore book. From the knowledge I've obtained, I don't see the American books doing anything nearly that generous. Perhaps they treat whales differently, not sure. However for their regular customers, the America books throw around quarters like manhole covers for crying out loud.

Here's hoping you make more nice scores, and get them mad that they ever gave you $500 in free money. LOL

  • galaxy27galaxy27 Posts: 8,497 ✭✭✭✭✭

    @stevek

see that rather large negative figure i've been typing out incessantly? yeah that played a huge role in the size of the "gift" lol

from what i've found online, 500$ is pretty standard for Diamond I

and the 2.4k bet didn't play as big a role you might think.......it inched me up less than a percentage point. when you hit 100% you level up. i'll be dead in a casket before i reach Diamond II

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

I goggled it and Diamond 1 requirements came right up on AI. Nothing I did came up for Diamond 2. Perhaps that's stepping into whale category and the book doesn't wish to make that info too public. Likely it's flexible depending on how the whale wagers.

For example in horse racing with the offshore books, they aren't co-mingling the pari-mutuel pools with any tracks. So their profit is enormous versus say sports betting on the spread or ML in which the juice is considerably lower. Those horse racing whales, I'm sure are getting all sorts of lavish comps, including all expense paid trips to the website owner's mansion parties, pretty women included. LOL

Excellent gesture by galaxy. Here's hoping Steve picks a high paying winner(s) in his golf play.
My Canadian Open plays, all for top 20: Pendrift,Smalley,Clark
Also my Belmont Stakes play:exacta rundown Journalism on top with all underneath. Hoping for a longshot to grab place. With 2 solid favorites the exacta pool will be split so if 1 of the 2 favorites wins, hopefully Journalism, should see a profit with the other favorite out of the exacta. There are 2 more contenders in Baeza and. Rodriguez. The latter had some foot trouble that had sidelined him for 5 weeks.
As always best of luck to all on your plays.
Hoping for a Pacers Championship. Put a small bet in.

Thanks. Trouble with a good start you worry about it lasting. But then again if you are near the bottom you worry about advancing and making the cut. But in a

Funny blackjack story I read in a book many years ago. In the early days of Las Vegas, they were dealing a single deck all the way to the end. Well one of the earliest card counters took a trip to Vegas to try to clean-up.

So anyway, he's there for a while, playing alone at a blackjack table, and the current deck is near the end. He gets two face cards. He then tells the dealer he wants to double down, and placed his chips out there. The dealer hesitated and didn't want to do it for him. The guy insisted to just please deal the cards. The dealer still wouldn't do it, really out of kindness for the player who in the dealer's mind was obviously making a ridiculous decision. So the dealer says to the guy that he's calling over the pit boss before he deals the cards. Well a few minutes goes by, and no pit boss was able to come over there, and the guy was getting impatient. Suddenly the guy shouts out rather loudly, paraphrase, "Just deal me the dam ace."

Turns out of course the card counter had counted 51 cards, and only three aces had been dealt. He knew that because the dealer when having a face card up, would always peek at the hole card to see if it was an ace or not. When the dealer didn't turn over a blackjack, the guy knew his ace was coming. LOL

The odds to hedge with OKC went from -700 to -300 for the series win.

Not sure I will even bother unless it gets lower

  • stevekstevek Posts: 29,993 ✭✭✭✭✭

Glad I've got at least a very tiny microscopic level of intelligence left, and stopped making NBA calls, after that rat-butt ugly parlay call a few weeks ago which included OKC losing.

I think I may have put it all on the OKC moneyline in this opening game of the championship series, against a Pacers team that for a finals team, had a lowly 20-20 road record in the regular season.

And OKC had a 12 point lead at the half.

I mean how do ya handicap this chit? Like trying to store water in a sieve. LOL

and the Thunder had a 15-point lead in the 4th quarter with 9:42 left in the game. at home where they had lost one time in the postseason and a grand total of 6 times during the regular season. with the MVP on the floor.

i've said this more times than i care to count on this thread............betting on the NBA is not for the faint of heart. it is the most unpredictable of all sports. the other night when i dropped on the Pacers against the Knicks, they had also had a 15-point lead heading into the 4th. no part of me was thinking, "money in the bag." i was scared shitless. seemingly insurmountable leads in pro basketball mean absolutely, positively nothing.

I don't think the books allow this. But say ya had $100 bet on the series. It would be nice to withdraw say $50 of it along with the profits, and ride with the $50 left as a hedge of sorts.

I'm not even sure if early cash-out on a series is available or not? I'm guessing it probably is available?

"and the Thunder had a 15-point lead in the 4th quarter with 9:42 left in the game. at home where they had lost one time in the postseason and a grand total of 6 times during the regular season. with the MVP on the floor."

Holy chit. The moneyline for OKC on that play at that time if even available, was likely around -20000 or maybe -50000. I'd sadly be sure some huge wagers were placed on the OKC live moneyline, the boys figuring they'd get an easy around 1% on their money. Plus comp benefits for a large bet. 😖

Of course then ya start changing up the other way, and play a live ML on the Pacers, and then suddenly the Thunder form becomes like Secretariat against a 5k claimer. 😫

I'm not making a call, but logically i would think that OKC is close to a mortal lock to win the second game.

But it's the NBA so who the yell knows?

Salting away game 1 was pretty unexpected, if this Indiana team can pull it off I cash for a $900 win!

I don't think the books allow this. But say ya had $100 bet on the series. It would be nice to withdraw say $50 of it along with the profits, and ride with the $50 left as a hedge of sorts.

I'm not even sure if early cash-out on a series is available or not? I'm guessing it probably is available?

Nope, if I want to. take a cash out right now they are offering me $65 profit on my $100 bet , it's not happening

Geez. that $65 offer absolutely sucks. Dam bookies are so gosh dam cheap it's pathetic. One reason why I love it when a player hits them hard. 👍

Out of spite I won't cash it because the offer is BS

Like at least offer double my money or something, I want to cram it in their rear end but unfortunately I'll probably look back and say "Damn shoulda grabbed that lil profit when I could" lol

Completely understand your last sentence. However as Doyle once wisely stated, "it isn't about winning or losing, it's about making the right decisions." I mean calling an all-in raise, preflop, is always the right decision with pocket aces, and you're gonna win money in the long run. But as we all know, pocket aces can be mathematically cracked even by 2,7os.

Win or lose the series, I think you're making the right decision staying with the bet, and in my opinion it's not even close. Especially because I just looked at Sunday's line of OKC -10.5. Frankly I thought it would be at least -15. I'm not calling a win for the Pacers or even beating the spread, but in no way is that game hopeless for the Pacers. But don't mind me, this season's NBA playoffs is one of the weirdest I've ever seen.

Sorry a little bit OT, but these bookie bastiges are hilariously cheap, especially during football season. If ya understand the game of football, late in some games it's basically virtually impossible for a certain team losing by a certain score to come back and win the game. The player's bet on the very soon to win team, for all intents and purposes is a definite winner. Yet the bookies will plaster their buy-out offer on there in which they usually try to grab an extra 10% juice for your privilege of cashing out early on basically a sure win.
