Possible doubled die. Wexler lists a similiar DDR for the Denver mint. Variety vista has no listing for this DDR. Is this a doubled die?

Got this from a local casino voucher cashout machine. I don't remember the last time I got a silver nickel in change but it was a very long time ago!

I just got one two days ago in my till at work. First one that's not from the bank.

I still get them from time to time. I pay cash for everything so I probably see more change than many.

Oh the looks I get when paying with cash.

Picked up a few nice ones today including FBs & FSs but this one I had to post, much nicer in hand.
I'm guessing 66+ since the hit on the neck and possibly worse (shield). Philly's don't typically come with much luster unless you hit jackpot.

I got my fingers crossed for you.

    Edit:
I’m still searching, finding okay stuff. The lack of improvement with photography discourages me from picking up the camera (iPhone).

I got a decent ‘61 dime in change from a thrift shop the other day.

    A lot!
I'm not really sure about actual realized prices and market tendencies but the CACG price guide for Kennedys is lower than PCGSs while at the same time CACG is allegedly more stringent (will see). So if PCGS 1982D MS67 (PG 700.00) while CAGS is set to 200.00 but may come back as a 66 well then I turned a $700 coin into a $50 coin.

With the ongoing TV problem I elected to send a few of my better 67s to CACG (intact) to see how they fare and find out who missed the mark PCGS, me, or nobody. Based on CACs stickering history I feel like I will get the correct grade the first time around I've never been a fan of submitting a coin more than once nor have I. If you can't spend more than 5 seconds on a coin how professional is it. I would rather pay $150 per coin and get it done right the first time. But this may be a game curve I have yet to figure out.

    Stay tuned.

@rec78 Nice silver finds to me the only thing there worth the time invested...

Which is the main reason I have abandoned roll searching. I looked at the front and back of some 2,600,000 pennies (no silver obviously) to make 4 MS68 C coins.
In that time period I could have done many other things like get a Masters degree, sail around the world (more than once), or maybe even read a book. :D

No offense I'm not knocking it I just don't have the spare time like I once did.
    Good luck!

Edit: Not abandoned 100% I reserve the right to open rolls when I find good ones just not gonna go to the bank fanatically every day 😁

Nothing quite like a good grade to reinvigorate your efforts.

I found this one while culling through a few cases of saved coins. While searching I would stow away into flips anything that looks decent.
I saved 4 or 5 of these from an original bank roll in one flip and recently submitted the best one.
More to come waiting on grades to post.

I am 73 and will never quit coin roll hunting. My dad started me on this on Dec.25, 1958, when he got me Lincoln cent Whitman folders. I have been coin roll hunting ever since however there were long periods of time when i did not have the time to do it. Now that I am retired I intend to keep doing it as long as possible. But I only intend to do a few more quarter half dollar and dollar boxes. Then pennies as long as they are available. I have been very lucky for the 4+ years as Wells-Fargo orders me any coins I want.

Hmmmm, up near the NY border? You're considered NE United States. My research and calculations say you should be finding them.

I have sent in really nice mint set finds for grading and been universally massacred for in hand beautiful coins that on close inspection before and after have shocked me (eg. 1983 P and D quarters and two exceptional 1970 D halves). I could be wrong but def. had the feeling they got the 5 second - if that look over - and then slapped with the grade. I wish that I could take better pictures but may try later today....

I feel your pain and I think those two particular 70 & 83 they take more seriously because of the price jump.
I take back anything bad I have ever said about PCGS as I recently sent 5 of my best P. MS67s to CACG and all 5 were declined to cross at grade. I'm one and done with those guys at least in the modern coin arena.
I'll get more into the weeds once they all come back.

I might post some more pictures soon, as I haven't had much time to do so recently.
