The PCGS Chinese counterfeit problem....

Used to be easy to spot these Chinese counterfeits because the put Morgan on every label, usually CC dollars. I've seen more of these lately that don't have Morgan on the label. Reporting these to eBay is futile. Their AI insists they are genuine....

Seems wise to opt for TrueViews on every submission if planning to resell.
@ Frick Great post. The PCGS number is accurate as to grade type, etc. but the coin listed is clearly not the same coin as the true view. Dealer has five of these!!! And no returns! Fortunately no bids on this "coin"....

Have they tried to forge the chip yet? Seeing that label has the mark I'd be curious to know.
Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value. Zero. Voltaire. Ebay coinbowlllc
I see these counterfeits every day, and eBay does nothing. Many of these sell for outrageously low bids because somebody thinks the are getting a deal. Not uncommon to see an 1881-CC MS64 sell for $250 Buy It Now....
Here are several that closed today. Couple of them are even listed as a VG08.
I reported all of them as soon as they were posted, to no avail....

This guy had 14 of these, all the same cert number. Said he got them from his dad who had them 20+ years

easy to spot counterfeits
the nfc tech is maybe 6-7 years young
ebay will eventually take counterfeits down if there are masses reporting them.
look for ebay counterfeit threads and report. hope many others report too. don't worry if your report is rejected, they can still be removed. they can also be removed after they closed. tho, i wouldn't waste my time starting a report thread on something that's closed a week ago unless we get into a panic over counterfeit gold or something
Auction was taken down and then relisted.

Another potential downside of these, is that it could potentially affect the PCGS price guide. If they sell for low and these auctions are included in the averages.
Calling it a silver round.
Says he has a total of five...
I wouldn’t worry too much about the PCGS price guide getting lowered…CPG is a different story, but they don’t take eBay comps into account.

Anyone come across NGC counterfeits?
Yes; many. One difference though is they mark the on-line cert to aid folks looking up the cert when reported as having fake examples known.
I'm always seeking to learn as much as I can,and how do i know when a Morgan is counterfeit when the PCGS number comes back looking official?

Thanks in advance for your answer, and thank you again for sharing your knowledge
Have the slab counterfeiters produced a counterfeit PCGS slab with an NFC chip that actually works?
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
"Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value---zero."----Voltaire
"Everything you say should be true, but not everything true should be said."----Voltaire
Or the crap is destined to be resold by the ebay buyer for a handsome profit to some unsuspecting collector. The fake slab is the lipstick on a pig. The pig is still a pig at the end of the day.
Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters.
Small wonder I do not collect Morgan (or Peace) Dollars.
There’s no good reason to single out Morgan and Peace dollars. If you’re going to avoid collecting coins that are counterfeited, other than very low value items, you won’t have very many choices.

Not yet seen...
here was someone on here that reported the nfc chip brought up the cert page, but the green banner saying it's been verified was missing
Description:

Been graded PCGS MS64
I have a total of 5 if interested in all let me know.
New !!!!
I think the eagle is off set /angel
Don’t know how to say it."
98.3 feedback says it all.
Was it this post?
it was long before that one
Apparently the seller has more than one of these....

It is unfortunate that eBay allows this; actually it is criminal. Seller apparently ended it after my message to him; was over $3K at the time...
They seem to have gotten the message.

Almost always a CC fake. First time I've seen this date....

Does PCGS have a satellite office or employees working in China?

PCGS 1893-CC MS63 CAC. This one is so bad, it's almost laughable

yes
there's your fake cac sticker
Pretty sure this is a fake. I've seen this certification number used before. Looks nothing like the coin on the certification page.
