    There are lots of them out there (especially on half dollars) but I don't know who made them. Best chance is to find one listed somewhere with original packaging or shipping materials.

    I see them on eBay and Worth Point but they never state who does it.

    Here is an eBay listing that claims Mel Wacks. Ditto for this WP listing.
    Note - the listings are similar, and appear to be from the same seller.

    Unfortunately, I have been unable to corroborate this information with another source.

    FWIW, here is an ICG slabbed Ike, and a NGC slabbed Kennedy. Have not had time to research these items on the respective TPG websites. But, perhaps doing this, or contacting them and inquiring, would result in more information.

    Good Luck. :)

    Definitely not Mel. His catalog of issues is here:

    https://www.tokenandmedal.org/Journal/Journal_files/Counterstamped_Coins_of_Mel_Wacks.pdf

    (It does not include his three most recent issues - Einstein, Pope, Hogg Penny).

    It might well have been produced by the same person who created Mel's, but it's not a Mel Wacks design.

    Like I said, I was unable to corroborate the claim. But, you were able to definitively refute it.

    Thanks for the info. :)

    @melwacks used to post here. Maybe he is still lurking? Still around, Mel?

    @MetroD Thanks
    I'm sending my Kennedy and Ike off to ICG today. I now realize that Mel Wacks didn't do theses, that's why PCGS returned my Ike "NO Service"

    I recently sent one to NGC. I submitted it as a Mel Wacks c/s. It came back as "STATUE OF LIBERTY 100th 1986 COUNTERSTAMP". No mention of Mel Wacks. Now I know why. :'(

    Anyone with a shop press and die-making skills can make something like this, but this issue looks so much like Mel's coins that it might well have been produced by Adam Cool, who did most of Mel's coins. Adam is sadly no longer with us so we so far still don't know.

    Interesting coin!

    How about kindly titling threads with more info? "Anyone know who" doesn't give board members any clue as to what the thread is about and the opportunity to decide whether they wish to read or contribute. Adding "(overstruck Ike)" would be an example of such a courtesy. Thanks for considering in the future.

    @Catbert
    Thanks, I just changed the title.
