1883 Liberty Nickel NC die gouges or repunched 1?

I have noticed a few examples of this 1883 with die gouges and the mound under the 1 of the date. What do you think of the 1 area?

I am not so sure, unless it was a smaller 1 die as nothing is seen above in the left overhang of the digit 1 and at the bottom is narrower than the base.

The red circled areas, could they be die clash with edge die?

Nice to see you post again aspie :)

Welcome back. I don't know the RePunched stuff much, so can't give any good opinion. But looking in the resources thread (I think you know where that is so I won't leave a link :) ) the Liberty nickel variety link has some potential information.

When the link opened it looked familiar and clicking through the 1883NC (at the top of the list) the variety 3 and 11 appeared to be worth noting. Can get the images by clicking magnifying icon on the right end at the link.

    Thanks @lilolme
I tried that link from the Resources last night but couldn’t figure out how to see pics, based on your post I just tried the magnifying glass/book image and it does lead to the pics.
FV RPD 011 looks a lot like the example I posted.

Found another one on eBay today from David Lawrence. It is still available if anyone is looking for an example.

Looks like the RPD-011. So is the AU58 one DLRC just posted on Ebay.
