In August Heritage will be having a token and US medal auction.

I was wondering…………… how are the auctions durning the summer? Are most on vacation?
Or is it a good auction to be in?

Maybe I will get a few others to chime in or not.
So HA and Stacks have the large ANA auction in August and it is generally very successful. HA and Stacks also have (or now had for HA and LB) the summer Long Beach and Baltimore auctions. I sold a majority of my Morgans in the summer several years back (not through any of the above auctions but prior to ANA) and was pleased with the results. So while I have no actual 'data' on the subject I don't think the summer is necessarily a bad time to sell. At any specific auction or lots in an auction things could get overlooked but it seems like that happens less these days at least through the 'known' auction sites/companies (again without any specific data on it).

Buying or selling?

There are a lot of significant shows and auctions over the summer. There is no blanket right answer. While a weekly auction might have slightly lower attendance, a major auction will not.
Since I tend to collect only Exonumia right now I think the time of year doesn’t really matter. Medals have been slow for maybe the past year, not the material available at auction that I had become accustomed to seeing. A major auction, focused on tokens and medals, would certainly draw attention from both buyers and sellers.
@coinsarefun, do you have any other details?? This is the first I’ve heard of a sale.
Thanks you very much for all your comments

Stef,
I will say that sales tend to slow down in the summer. People take vacations, they're outdoors more. Indoor hobbies take a backseat. I find the fall to be the strongest sales. Good luck on your sales, and get at me when you are selling the good stuff!
