How would you rank my haul yesterday?

If you told me you paid 120 for a 78cc I would expect it to look like Billy the kid himself used it as Flint to start a bandit campsite fire, and not a possible proof with minimal wear. Also, as you can see, I already put it in a capsule, Because I know myself, but I’m going to ship it out tomorrow for grading.

As for the 28P, that’s the only coin I feel like I could’ve gotten for a better deal, but the quality is amazing. I’m just kind of upset with the toning, but I needed a 28P so why not?

Then for the cap bust, “54”….cmon now guys. It’s actually an 1824, they just can’t read, so obviously, YOINK!

I think you more or less got what you paid for. Too bad about the damage on the otherwise nice looking bust half.

In the future, remove coins from flips , so In focus pics can be done. Good luck. Peace Roy

Looking forward to seeing your next haul in PCGS graded coins.

I am glad you found coins you like. I can't give grade specifics based on those pictures but if at the least you have authentic coins than you are somewhat ahead in some respects. Best of luck with you collecting. James

I have a feeling you’ll never make the mistake again buying a pile of problems after you get attacked with the upcoming grading fees for the body bags

  • calgolddivercalgolddiver Posts: 1,518 ✭✭✭✭✭

recommend you do NOT submit to PCGS as most others are also saying. Besides the polish on the CC the 1824 has a graffiti X on the obverse and the Peace looks to have multiple scratches and marks as well.

If you're suggesting the 1878 CC is a possible proof I digress.

While I am comfortable buying raw coins, I get very leery when I see 2X2’d items with “sale price” stickers or with distracting sharpie colorings and markings around the borders. I’m buying the coin not the holder.

As others have said the 78-CC is cleaned/polished. The 28P Peace is also cleaned at a minimum, and the 1824 Bust Half is VF Details due to the graffiti, but it has nice surfaces. You're not buried in them at least

I wouldn’t spend/waste my money having those problem coins graded.

    Haul definition-
the result of an effort to obtain, collect, or win
    the burglar's haul

2 out of 3 is not bad but I think you were really trying to achieve the last one.

If you get a thrill from owning and learning about coins, that is what coin collecting is all about.

If you plan to resell, it pays to be picky on condition, because the market of buyers is normally picky on condition.

The more coins you look at, the better you'll get at seeing what potential problems a coin might have.

I hope you continue to enjoy the hobby and grow your collection.
