It's that simple.
I probably have one of the most eclectic tastes in music around -- I can appreciate most genres. Groups like The Beatles, however, have never been able to whet my appetite. But for the first time in a very long time I heard this song on Sirius by George Harrison when he went solo, and I had forgotten just how much I like it. It's an anachronism to my ears -- hard to believe he churned this out before I was even born.

Same here, I can enjoy most genres, even classical. I mean Beethoven's 9th is an absolute masterpiece.
If I had to choose a favorite, it would be Stairway to Heaven, for a variety of reasons.

Led Zeppelin was a good band, I listened to them a lot when I was younger and my musical tastes hadn't fully matured. I even saw them in 1974 during the "Houses of the Holy" tour and the show was really good. The problem with the band's albums started after "Physical Graffiti" and continued to the end, not much good music came out of those years. I have long maintained that if their audition song would have been "Fool in the Rain" they never would have gotten a recording contract. Just a terrible, laughable song.
The trouble for Zep started shortly after they released their 1st album. They didn't seem to have a firm understanding of plagiarism and could have avoided a lot of their problems if they'd have just credited song writers. Sometime in the 60's a group of British musicians got several American Black Bluesmen to travel to England and teach them. A lot of the mid 60's stuff is the result of that. Just give credit where credit is due.
With all that said, my favorite Zeppelin song would have to be "No Quarter" which they played during the aforementioned show. They fired up the ice machines, the fog rolling off the stage had to be four feet deep. The lighting gave it a spooky, ethereal look and the sound was magnificent.
When I. was a kid - like elementary school age in the 70's I used to go to Boston to visit my grandparents
They lived in an old triple decker, there was a park across the street where we could see the back of this blue cement dugout from our front porch and there was graffiti on it where someone spray painted what was supposed to say"Led Zep" but it looked like "Leo Zep" and I always wondered who that was lol I had no idea about the band yet
That was back in the mid to.late 70's and oddly I can still picture it to this day

Seems like a backhanded compliment. If Led Zeppelin is just "good", what would it take to be great? LOL
That being said, you're not incorrect about the plagiarism accusations. I'm sure you're familiar with the Spirit lawsuit, in which Led Zeppelin won that case. That lawsuit really was quite frivolous in my opinion. Those chords sited in the lawsuit had been around long before Spirit came on the scene. Now the great song "Whole Lotta Love" was nicked, no doubt about it, and that case was settled out of court.
Speaking of plagiarism, George Harrison was forced to pay-out for his song My Sweet Lord. Lennon and McCartney both had warned Harrison about possible problems, which of course did occur.
However the fact is that most if not virtually all modern era musicians were influenced by previous musicians, including sometimes from the classical era. Of course Harrison's mentioned song was influenced by He's So Fine, but I didn't see it as plagiarism. I think a lot of times these lawsuits get settled simply to avoid running up costly legal fees. If I'm on that jury, I'm voting not guilty of plagiarism. I would have also voted not guilty in the Stairway to Heaven case.
So now that you "matured" and you're a big boy, lemme guess. Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman. LOL

@stevek, my point was simply that all that’s needed, and most artists do it, is to give credit or make a few “structure” changes in a song. The egos of the Zeppelin members were just too big to allow that. Once I got past my teenage adulation, learned about music and the band, it became easy to dismiss them. No doubt they had a great influence on subsequent music(ians) but I only have one CD and rarely listen to them. In my modest collection of 500+ CD’s Led Zeppelin is nothing but an afterthought.
To my earlier mention of the Black American Bluesmen, I think the documentary was titled “The London Sessions” and included guys like Howlin’ Wolf and John Lee Hooker. There is a DVD and CD’s.
@Steven59, I saved most of my ticket stubs and a lot of them are Belkin, makes me wonder if we attended any shows together. Gone are the days of standing in line to get choice seats for $6.95!! 😂😂😇
The talent and originality of those "Black American Bluesmen" is undeniable. That being said, the song previously mentioned, Whole Lotta Love, which was nicked from Muddy Waters, is a far superior song to the Waters' version. I don't recall a single time ever hearing "You Need Love" on the radio. But If you consider the Waters' version to be the "mature" version, well to each his own when it comes to music.
Frankly, i think you fall for the tired premise that rock & roll is only for teenagers, and that older "mature" folks should be listening to "classier" music such as Frank Sinatra, etc. Nothing at all wrong with Sinatra, but I'll take AC/DC, etc, over that genre any time.
@stevek, as usual you presume to know things you don't. Since you think you know all about what my taste in music might be, share what you think I like.

Again, you miss the target on most accounts, but I do have one Sinatra CD and really enjoy his rendition of "I Get a Kick Out of You" which you might enjoy. I suggest you revel in three cords and a kick-drum, don't ever explore anything new. It might scare you.
Led Zeppelin is #1 by far.. no questions asked, but Deep Purple is so awesome....

Deep Purple is very underrated in my opinion. Machine Head was a monster of an album. 👍
Arguably, and no argument from me, the best rock concert group of all time. I've attended too many other concerts where the group just phones it in. Some performances were pathetic. However Angus has never done that, and would never allow the other members to ever do that. He's got virtually the same great energy and enthusiasm for his craft that he had when first starting out in Australia. Amazing really.
Sadly, that song was apropos for the time and place. It sickened me at the time how our vets were treated upon returning from there. It was despicable to me then, and the thought of it still sickens me. Fortunately over time, I think for the most part, our Vietnam vets are now revered in the same way as other great vets who have fought for our freedom and liberty.
