Way back in 1793, today was the last day the the venerable first circulating coin was produced by the US Mint. So as of now, every chain cent is at least 232 years old. Happy birthday! One day I will own one of you. One day...

My wife claims to collect coins. She likes firsts, so she has collections of S-1 cents and 1792 half dismes. It's just that each of those "collections" still has a hole to fill.

Look what just arrived today, after a good 5 years of looking. It's even in my favorite holder, the beautiful minimalist old timey ANACS soapbox. Yay!

Was very happy to pry this out of a local dealers collection and few years ago. He had had it since the 1950s. Coin has nice smooth brown surfaces.
