    1. It is a no problem coin but the strike is weak: Liberty's hairline & eagle's breast feathers are not exciting.

Casual collector, mostly Morgans & Peace Dollars. Successful BST transactions with Morgan13, CoinFinder & Bretsan.

    MS 62 ....nice look overall

I could go any where from 63 to 65, so I'll split it at 64

I'm not guessing because it appears to be not certified by one of the top 4 grading services.

I thought there could only be one Top grading service. I don’t understand if you would give concessions to three runner ups why not a fourth? And by the way, who is number four if Anacs is five or six?

    MS63

Whatever grade might have been assigned by whatever company, the coin looks approximately 63 to me. AU 58 is too strict and grades above 64 are way too loose.

I agree. I revise mine down to 63 as I got a better view of the marks on Liberty's face that I didn't see before.

I just now noticed it’s in an ANACS holder I still stand by my grade of 62 but I’ll bet they called it a 63…

Hats off to the 58s because I tried my level best (with lighting) to highlight any luster and shadow the major hits.

Having it in hand, what do you grade it?

Great question and one that I cannot answer with much certainty so for now I'll go with the label. It's a new series of nuances for me. Taking back from the responses and my now closer look I can tell you that it has cartwheel luster but not the kind of frosty skin akin to a 67 so I'm not yet sure where the line falls between AU/MS.

I just took this pick w/o any tweaking of the lights, what say you?

The obverse looks 62, shot 58. The reverse is hard to see.😉

From original photo I was going to guess 63, but got here late to the game. I bet you would have no problem selling the coin at 58 price.

This is one where I agree with ANACS now, having seen more pictures
They occasionally get them right. :o:p:D

  • BryceMBryceM Posts: 11,821 ✭✭✭✭✭

I was going to say MS62, based on my interpretation of the surfaces and luster.
