    1. It is a no problem coin but the strike is weak: Liberty's hairline & eagle's breast feathers are not exciting.

    I thought there could only be one Top grading service. I don’t understand if you would give concessions to three runner ups why not a fourth? And by the way, who is number four if Anacs is five or six?

    Whatever grade might have been assigned by whatever company, the coin looks approximately 63 to me. AU 58 is too strict and grades above 64 are way too loose.

    I agree. I revise mine down to 63 as I got a better view of the marks on Liberty's face that I didn't see before.

    I just now noticed it’s in an ANACS holder I still stand by my grade of 62 but I’ll bet they called it a 63…

Taking back from the responses and my now closer look I can tell you that it has cartwheel luster but not the kind of frosty skin akin to a 67 so I'm not yet sure where the line falls between AU/MS.

    From original photo I was going to guess 63, but got here late to the game. I bet you would have no problem selling the coin at 58 price.

    Hoping the experts chime in to give you the pros/cons of each. Bought many PCGS coins but never sent any in for slabbing. Coin does look like a very strong candidate for being holdered in PCGS slab and getting the green CAC sticker. The only potential issue I see if the flattening of the rim on obverse at 5-6:00 under the 21.

    I didn't get to respond to this thread until now. My guess would have been 58 as I have a similar piece to this one. I would not waste money on trying to send to our host as I believe it would come back the same at best. Just my 2 cents worth.

    ANACS does confuse strike with luster more than other services. I wouldn't be surprised to see this coin in a PCGS or NGC mint state holder. I cherrypick things like this because ANACS undergrades coins on occasion.

    Although I agree reslabbing as an AU58 would eat up most of any price gain, I feel the extra liquidity of the PCGS holder is a big plus. I believe that coin in a PCGS AU58 slab would sell at minimum near greysheet easily. In hand, I'd buy ANACS/ICG slabs if I like the coin, but online, for a coin >$350, I'd only buy PCGS & NGC. I wouldn't gamble the seller was showing me any of the coin's negatives.

    Also if no issues are present, can never get a CAC sticker on the ANACS slab. But would show the coin to others for their opinion first.

    Fair enough - I can certainly understand your viewpoint. I was thinking in terms of selling the coin sight-seen in its current holder. That is, if the plan is to sell it in the forseable future.

    I definitely plan on flipping it and hopefully to break even it was an impulse buy. I recently bought a 28 in Anacs AU 50 from the same seller and I received similar results here on the board and it did well at eBay auction.
