Etsy seller and violations of PCGS IP...

burfle23burfle23 Posts: 2,674 ✭✭✭✭✭

I have reported through Etsy with no reaction. Also to the ACEF but it might take PCGS to actually do anything about these.

This 1893 "PCGS" Morgan was posted on MyCollect; both the OP and I reported through the Etsy report function:

Obviously bad, the front barcode scans the wrong thing, the reverse QR takes you to PCGS China.

I also reported his Trade:

Seller says they are all genuine and the chip scans correctly...

Tonight he has some even more ridiculous "PCGS" listings; love the "Walton" 1913:

"Tonight he has some even more ridiculous "PCGS" listings; love the "Walton" 1913:"

Yes, got to like that Walton nickel. :)

While there are many things wrong with these, I noticed it was mentioned:
"Seller says they are all genuine and the chip scans correctly..."

The pcgs chip slabs have symbol in the front lower left. I drew a yellow line near the top of the symbol to show how far up it is (for those cropped slab shots). The fake slabs don't have the symbol (although a couple are cropped high) and therefore no chip to scan even if it was real slab.

Looks good. Hopefully the buyer sends it to CAC for a sticker. That’ll teach ‘em.

Looking at the key date Liberty nickels, 1885, and 1886 I'm seeing fakes in low grades from China looking similarly available on ebay.

Curious how that relates to this post?

Counterfeits are being produced in significant numbers out of China. That's what you were talking about here, right, and the failure of the site to take action??

I document multiple counterfeits nearly daily; this post is aimed specifically at one platform and documented seller in hopes the owner of the intellectual property can/ will take action.
