Observations...and Wins Last Night in the Heritage Auction.

First...I am very happy to share a big win last night...having won a 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle Rookie SGC-7 from the Rounders Collection in the auction (more about that collection further down). I had to consign/sell 20 cards from my collection to fund this purchase.
Below are the cards sold or consigned...so my collection took a hit to achieve this win.

Here is my 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle RC #253:
And here is the photo used for an artist illustration of the 1951 Bowman Mantle Rookie and taken during the 1951 Spring Training in Arizona with Mantle wearing #6...
The Rounders collection is highlighted in this Heritage January Auction for its stunning collection of T-206 cards some of which are highest graded, #2 1964 Topps Stand Ups complete set in high grade, 1933 Goudey PSA-8s Ruth and Gehrig, 1953 Bowman Color Mantle PSA-9, as mentioned 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle RC, and a complete run of wax packs from 1953-1979!
I will mention two (2) lots catching my eye price wise: a 1960 Topps Cello Pack 4th Series (Mantle on top and Koufax on back) psa-7 sold for $35,000+....and a 1960 Topps Cello Pack 4th Series also a PSA-7 (Koufax on top and Mantle on back) sold for $28,000+.

+1 No regrets? Doubt it, you nailed a 'dream' card. Congrats!!!!
I won three of the Rounders wax packs. I bid on a lot more.
mint_only - are your sacrificial cards in upcoming or past auctions? interested in a couple of those
Wow, that 1951 Mantle is a screamer! Congratulations!
That’s awesome. Less, is more. And that card couldn’t look any better than in that slab. Great purchase.
I got this one
Very cool 1960s Beatles Color Cello Pack….congrats!
Very nice! Do you also own the 1951 Mantle photo? I have Lynn Swann’s 1975 Topps rookie photo which I have with his rookie card.
Unfortunately…I do not own it but like to see the photo used to do an artist rendition of the image.
That’s very cool to own the photograph as well. Congrats!
I picked up the OPC 84-85 box for an amount less than my top bid. I was surprised it won. It will be ripped this spring and added to my two raw nm/mint sets I have from my childhood. And maybe I get lucky on a few cards? I can’t wait for the fun.
I tried but couldn’t win the 1959 topps wax pack. Thought the 1954 4 card pack sold for a fair price. I know it only has 4 cards and is a Canadian pack I think. Does that mean they will be the rare gray backs or regular topps cards. Still it was high grade and regret not going after that one. Also forgot to bid more on the 1953 redman yogi pack. I was also the underbidder. Would have gone 2k but forgot to check the auction before closing time. That is a cool cool pack!
So if anyone on here won the 1953 Redman Yogi Pack. Ill pay 2000.00
Congrats on the Mantle pick-up! I was watching three lots but nothing I had to have, so I didn't win. I would have been in for the 1965 wax pack had it been in a PSA holder.
I won 6 of the 1964 Topps Stand-Ups PSA 9 cards. Some of the others went for crazy prices. I bid on most of them.
Late 60's and early to mid 70's non-sports
Monte - what a beauty!!! Congrats the color really pops on that Mantle.
Smallstocks - congrats on the stand-ups - bid on McCovey, Spahn and Mays but was not close.
Won 4 of the '52 Bowmans from the set-break the biggest being this Berra. Really wanted the '63 Aaron 8.5 but it went higher than I would go.
Brad…
Thank you for the nice comment. Love the Berra, beautiful card!
Wow, congratulations, definite grail. Crossover candidate? Best of luck selling in the upcoming Heritage auction.
I plan to leave the card in an SGC holder. I have two (2) other cards in SGC holders: 1958 Koufax SGC-8.5 and 1959 Bob Gibson Rookie SGC-8.5.
Thanks for the well wishes in the upcoming auctions!
Monte, congrats on the Mantle! That is a great looking card!
With a new month starting and these awesome pickups and cards?
Monte maybe you should do the honors?
