Heritage Auction - Western Mining Ingot Collection
I was surprised to receive an email from Heritage about an upcoming auction featuring silver bars, aka ingots, called the Western Mining Ingot Collection.
Sale includes some rare 19th Century items but also some merely scarce post 1960 items like the 4 bar Engelhard 1969 British Hallmark set. I am watching some of the offerings where I have similar items in my collection.
This sale leads me to wonder if Heritage will start offering silver bars on a regular basis.

Didnt a big part of this collection just go through Holabird? They had a massive ingot auction not long ago....

The Wells Fargo bar is a fantasy piece. They note in the description that no Wells Fargo silver bars are known.

That is correct. We assisted w/ information on these, and some fantasy pieces were removed from auction but others remained. The choice was interesting but alas...
Wells Fargo pieces in general have gained a lot more interest recently and the piece at the auction posted a strong number. There are several varieties of WF pieces, some much nicer than others, but all are fantasy.
I recently discovered a Mountain Maid Mining company bar that shares a lot of design features with some of the WF series.
