FUN show parking cost!
Just got here and a big surprise, $21.50 to park. I as not expecting that. I can afford it, but that's not the point.

Yup! It was $10!!! Now they charge you $21.50 and direct you to the South Concourse when the show is in the North Concourse. Ugh

Guess FUN could not get the discounted rate as in previous shows and no mention of it on the website of the change $20+1.50 =21.50 parking fee ouch!

Check if the garage has a website or online pay ahead option. That might save you some cost, some garages in Chicago have that and if you don't use it the parking fees are basically robbery.

I also have $20 coins I enjoy.
One I turned into a gold sovereign once I sold it here after it was graded and Trueviewed.For those who can only collect $20 coins I'll certainly agree the parking cost must hurt.

100%+ inflation!? Time to buy more precious metals and maybe a wheelbarrow for next year so I can haul around my coin buying cash on the bourse.

The parking fee was a real downer, for sure. I didn't know it had gone up until the credit card transaction record showed up on my phone.
Like Walkerguy21D I only did the one day this year, and I also packed my lunch from home as well. For those of us with shallower pockets every little bit helps, and venue food is incredibly 'meh' most of the time anyway.

$21.50 for parking is exorbitant for collectors at any budget level. Maybe the price increase was invested back into the show creating a safer and better experience for attendees. For that, I would be ok with it.

In addition to the 21 my hotel charges 20 per night for parking.

Parking in front of the center was less than the official parking.
My uber was $8 each way until I grabbed the wrong Uber on a business call and the driver looked back as he stopped in the middle of the bridge and informed me “Carmelo this is your final destination”. I got off the phone and paid him to get me to the convention center. I do wonder what Carmelo planned to do getting out of his Uber in the middle of the road on a bridge though?

Parking has always been $15 at Long Beach. There's really no way around this. Considering I'm carrying valuables with me, no way am I going to park somewhere nearby and walk to save a few dollars.

Parking has gotten obscene recently at all major venues. I think Disneyland is $30 and parked in Times Square NYC in fall & think it was $40+ for <5 hours.

Once we had a local card show that raised its admission price, but collectors only found out once they arrived. No advance notification. Nothing in the ad. So people who drove from far away were not about to turn around and go home. Seems a bit uncool. Some were not happy with this maneuver.

When I went to the PCGS in Philly the parking at the Marriott mid-town was $66.00 a day !!!

This will make it hard for FUN in the future to charge admission say $5 as attendance would decline in some form with additional cost for those attending.
No mention on website of change in parking rates.

Since I'm relatively local, I bit the bullet and paid the man and made a visit today. Biggest show I've ever been to. Overwhelming, but I'm essentially a bit player who stocks my antique store with low end stuff, which was in short supply. Great material everywhere. Morgans. Gold. Etc. No certified Ikes that I could see. Ended up with a Whitman Buffalo partial set and some BU Finnish silver coins which will grab the eye of my unsophisticated upstate NY buyers. Made a point to introduce myself to Gerry Fortin as a daily blog reader. His auction preview material was stunning, particularly his personal stuff. Saw Penny Lady, but I never got the chance to say hi. Worth the one hour drive for sure.

I dont understand all the complaints about 21 dollar parking, you take the time to travel to this show, and most likely are looking at a significant purchase or selling your items, and worried about a 21 dollar parking fee.
Friend of mine was complaining at the show, spend almost 50k, and couldnt get over the 21 dollar parking fee.
By the way as mentioned, Baltimore is closer to 40

Baltimore parking is free, I park at my daughter's house and she drops me off, only 10 minutes away.

I understand - I know many folks who think nothing of spending four and five figures at a show and then complain about a soda vending machine charging $4 a bottle. By the way, I flew down to the show, so I only have to deal with expensive cab rides instead of parking.

Its not the absolute dollar cost but the value of the purchase that annoys folks. When I can buy a case of water for $0.10 a bottle that the airport wants $4-5, that is what irks me.

A lot of hotel/convention parking has turned into massive junk fees. It's one of the major reasons I stopped renting cars for some locations.
We attended the FUN show and avoided those useless fees by using rideshare apps and staying at the Rosen Centre, which allowed us to walk to the show.
Yes, the junk fees are affordable for most of us. But most of us don't like throwing $21.50 into a toilet and hitting the flush button.

Yes, I wasn't happy either that the parking had doubled from the previous show. But I guess that gave me incentive to sell more coins, which I was fortunate to be able to accomplish.
And everyone typically complains about convention center food, but the food at the FUN show was surprisingly good!

Imagine charging $21.50 for parking!!
It takes a great deal of hubris on the organizer's part to charge this high fee, especially when you're dealing with coin collectors who I'm sure most will agree, tend to be on the penny pinching side......not everyone, but quite a few are this way.
