Can PCGS TrueView Images be used in eBay listings?

If I wanted to sell a coin on eBay, could I use the TrueView as the main image on the listing?

I try to use them every chance possible.

Seem to help with selling the coin.

  • I assume that PCGS creates TrueView images only at the time a coin is graded. In other words, if one wants TrueView images of an already-graded coin, then one would have to send the coin to PCGS to have it re-holdered. Is this correct?

    Yes

    Makes sense. Thanks.

Generally yes, with the caveat that the coin doesn't need to be reholdered. TrueView images can be, and are, taken with the coin in the holder, especially useful when the holder, typically older generation, has significant value.

These two from the TrueView Generations page are taken inside the holder:

    Yes.
    And many do.
(Keep in mind though eBay does have a policy the full slab must be shown too, although many sellers seem to neglect doing so.)

That was the policy for a long time, but it seems to have quietly gone away: https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/stamps-currency-coins-policy?id=4337

As already stated, many sellers opt to use only the True Veiw image. Which I won't bother bidding on without the actual encapsluation image as well. Just my opinion.

I so rarely see any decent photos on EBay that I am pretty surprised if I don't have to look up the True View myself.
A lot of sellers use poor photos and seem lazy, I tend to avoid them.
Those types of sellers could probably sell more if they took the time to do better postings with actual TVs and nice photos.

I always use the TV image, plus my own. Also, for what it's worth, I intentionally seek out coins with TV images when I am buying a coin.

If they include true view in the listing that’s one thing. But I want to see the coin NOW in its PCGS holder! So if they don’t include the slab seems kind of lame on their part. Remember the true view is a point in time…..

Slab-shots represent points in time, too. And I don’t recall seeing too many sellers providing the dates of the slab shots they display.

Additionally, some slab shots are lifted from auction sites and not taken by the eBay seller.
