Looks cleaned to me.... dipped and hairlined but it is straight graded.

Undergraded.....would JA gold CAC it......I don't think so.

    XF 40, but would come back cleaned today.

    Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

    Slab grade AU-50. Yes, it might come back as “cleaned” today although I don’t see and “organized” cleaning likes.

    It’s not a “look” that I would buy for my collection, but the coin is well struck with all of the design details defined.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals.     Either those who have guessed didn’t notice the grade or did, but guessed as if they were unaware of it. That might not apply to quite everyone, however.

    I probably would have guessed XF45.

    It looks like this one was heavily net graded. One would never get a VF-30 with this much detail today. The graders must have decided that they couldn’t body bag it, but also couldn’t get it a grade even as high as EF-40.

    With the brightness, it would neither cac nor gold cac. Considering it is in a rattler and these are getting tough to find, it is a fun curiosity!
