Is this the, "Good One" 1972 doubled die

braddickbraddick Posts: 25,114 ✭✭✭✭✭

I know there is the main doubled die all accept as the one that counts and then there are a couple of somewhat minor varieties that although have a premium, are no where as desirable as the full doubled die variety.
Here are some shots sent to me.
I've been looking for one of these in FN12 to VF condition.
The date doesn't quite measure up, yet I do need to remember these are no where as dramatic as the famous 1955/55.

Yes. You can tell by the large separation in IN and other places.
It is WDDO-001 on this page:

I'll have it in hand in a few days.
I do know many of these are counterfeited and do have a full return privilege.

    Thanks.
That is excellent, well written information.

    Details are very mushy.

They are all good but the real good one is #4.

Without a good picture of the obv and rev it’s almost impossible to make a determination of if it is or isn’t

I was thinking rather mushy and porosity, so not sure... once in hand should be able to tell.

Hate to say it but my gut tells me it's a cast counterfeit.

Look at "IN GOD WE" and you should see everything you need to know. ;)
The secondary image of the N & G are smaller/shorter, the W isn't even close.

Yep, and it's also the bad & ugly one. :D

    Guys, the photos are bad.
It appears to have mushy details, but so does the background the coin is sitting on.
My guess is it is probably real, and circulated down to the XF range. But we will know more when it is in hand and @braddick can give us some proper photos.
    Good luck

R in LIBERTY also looks kinda odd... but, as already mentioned, just have to wait and see in hand.

Wishing you luck with it but I am also team counterfeit. Looks a lot like the last coin in this thread, in particular the shape of the date.

You (and others here) are on to something.
I was 50/50 when I started this thread and am now 95/5 leaning toward counterfeit.

This is the first I have seen of this thread, but that piece is counterfeit all day long from the images.

More likely it's a struck counterfeit using cast dies.
