I finally got around to crossing my toned 1943-s cent. I think the trueview looks great, they did an excellent job of showing off the color. It does irk me a bit that the reverse is tilted left a bit. Thats my ocd showing. ![]()
Let me know what you think, and please feel free to show off any toned steel you may have!

Love your piece. I looked for the 'look' for my type set for a while. Interesting that most of the toners of the steel cents seem to come from the San Francisco mint.

The pink toning is more pronounced in hand, especially on the obverse
It's in a PCGS MS67 holder
And @scotty4449 that reverse tilt would cause me anxiety.

Your examples are beautiful!
Great coins so far! From what I understand, it's uncommon to find toned steel cents like these.
A few years back I bought a roll of steel cents from an internet auction. The only reason I bid on it was because I saw the end coin had color. When I opened the roll I discovered all the coins had beautiful toning, I thought I had hit the jackpot. Then I realized all the coins had been plated.
Here is a pick of one of them I just took.

I didn't think this kind of toning was acceptable on steel cents. I've only ever seen it on reprocessed and re-plated specimens.

My Grandmother collected “back in the day” and the 43 coins in her album are white. Not steel colored.. white.

This one has toned a nice chocolate brown.

Too bad the owner wants $120,000. for it. We all like toning, but that is crazy.
