I do not own that book either. It rarely shows up for sale (500 copies were printed I believe back in 1999) and is not cheap as you say. The Brad Yonaka books I do own and they cover all this coins and is not as expensive. I would suggest you buy the Yonaka book (s) if you do not own a copy already. You will be happy you did.

The rarity ratings in Gilboy are mostly inaccurate. Very few I would describe as accurate. I have no idea how he came up with it. He shows a lot of Charles III dates as more common than FRD VI when only a few or low proportion are for Peru.

For example, the book claims the 1756, 1761, and 1765 1/2R as the most common and rates all three as "C" or "common" with an estimated 1000+ in VF. Maybe (probably big maybe) this many exist for the 1756 and 1761, but I'd place the chance of that for the 1765 as virtually zero.

Not much so far, but I did pick up this Coriosolites billon stater along with a couple of Maundy sets a couple months back. Dates to 75-50BC.

Edit to add: This is the second 1R Pillar type that I have bought, the first one was some 10 years ago, do not remember the year but it was also from Mexico Mint, I paid $28 for it and was the first one I sent to be graded to Anacs, came up as AU58 and I sold it some months after for $250.

I just got the coin today on a quick look in more detail, there is a dot on the right side of the first pillar:

The coin in hand looks much better.

And also the 1/2R 1763 In hand also looks great, there is a small detail on reverse, just hope that end up with a straight grade, will see.

Another date I need, although my 1481 slot has a Double Briquet from the same mint. The double griffon design is pretty cool.

Picked up these 2 Guatemala 1 reales (most lower denominations from Guatemala are holed over 40% per Yonaka):

The 1755 with multiples holes my guess it was sowed to clothing vs been put on some type of rope. Yonaka mentions this tradition in his book.

I picked up this medal from an Austrian dealer.

It has some really nice color, and celebrates the 500th anniversary (1471-1971) of the birth of Albrecht Duerer. The obverse depicts Duerer's self-portrait from 1500.

I just love how gnarly these coins are. Not round, not refined, not produced well. Kinda the opposite of what most people are looking for LOL!

Added a new variety of the 1767 1 real Peru. This is the nicest 1767 I have seen detail wise of the date with a hole or no hole (Not the the best of the 3 examples I have seen grade wise but details on this coin yes for sure). I now own 2 varieties of the 1767 this one listed by Yonaka and another that is unlisted. I collect by date and varieties.

Thanks much appreciated since I know you have been collecting much longer than I have years in your case and about 8 months in mine. Yours is without a doubt better since it has no hole and grades straight numerical grade but yes this one has more details. If this one had no hole it would have been out of my reach financially (would have cost easily multiple times what I paid) since I spent a lot of my budget already for 2024. I am very happy with it since the grades do not matter to me for this series I am just happy to own the coins holed or not.

Was finally able to upgrade my 1739 Mexico 1 real (had a hole and a few attempted holes awful looking coin). Took a long while to find an example I am happy with. I may still upgrade over time like many other common dates. Will see how things go but my old 1739 had to go it was by far my worst looking coin.

Thanks! The original limited-edition number set only had these 6. But at least one more has come out (see below). I also bought three other random special edition slabs just so my OCD wouldn't go nuts with the empty case:)
