Luka trash talk throughout last night's game was caught and transcribed here and its going to be real fun seeing how he handles the Boston fanbase in the Finals. We know fans will start in on Kyrie long before the opening tip but adding in Luka should make for an entertaining series in more ways than one.

And back then he wasn't sure how he felt about both Porzingis & Kyrie not long after each joined their current team. Both players have been phenomenal since getting there.
no one can slow Luka down. he has roasted Paul George, Luguentz Dort and Jaden McDaniels -- all solid defenders -- in 3 consecutive series. on top of that, he has elevated the play of his teammates. nothing about that Mavs roster screams NBA Finals, yet here they are. for those reasons, he's the most valuable player in the league imo.

I can see a scenario for both teams winning this series and it should be much more entertaining than the two conference finals. I chose Dallas over Minnesota but no one is a cakewalk this late into the season, this is definitely going to be an epic series .
Luka honestly reminds me of a shorter version of Bird and the Show thought the same too. He's going to be such a difficult matchup, I'm expecting Jaylen Brown to take on that assignment maybe even Jrue at times. As for Kyrie, I expect to see alot of Derrick White & Tatum taking turns on him. Boston really needs Porzingis patrolling the paint and preventing lob city.
Its going to be real interesting to see how Dallas's defense handles all of the C's shooters, I favor the Celtics there but nothing will be easy. Boston needs to make Luka & Kyrie work just hard on defense and try wearing them out. that's easier said than done.
I like Luka but he’s a Junior James the way he complains to the refs. It’s like every time he touches the ball he thinks he’s been fouled…. the arms go up and the whining begins.
A little less of that would make him easier to watch.
So far, the Finals have lacked suspense and drama. Boston is playing very well, especially on defense. Dallas has been ineffective on offense. Doncic has been the only Dallas player who can score points consistently. Irving's play on offense has been subpar. The other Dallas players have been mostly a non factor on offense.
the Mavs have overachieved. to their credit, they advanced past three teams that (i thought) were better than they were. but to do it one more time against the (relatively rested) #1 team in the NBA was not going to happen. i said this earlier -- Dallas has a great backcourt and a bunch of max effort guys. and when Irving doesn't play well (he didn't hit a single 3 in the first two games), they're screwed. Luka would have to channel his inner MJ to steal the game. not nearly enough firepower to hang with Boston.
that said, i expect Dallas to fight like rabid dogs in 3 & 4. the series doesn't really start until a team loses at home. if the Celts can grab one it'll be all but over.
and btw that was one ugly trip-dub by Luka. on the face of it, 32, 11 and 11 sounds like star of the game. but dude was turning the ball over like crazy, missing far too many free throws, and he's a liability on D. Boston tries to switch on him every chance they get because they know his feet are covered in molasses when he tries to slide them

For his career he's been a below average defender at the best of times but that 2nd half of last night's game might be one of the worst defensive efforts by an NBA player in a longtime. Tatum & Brown continually created switches so that Luka was on ball defender and they just kept blowing right by that guy. For all of the talk about how great he is on offense, many people forget that the NBA is a two way game, I expect to see the C's continue searching him out and attacking.
I know he's still only 25 but his conditioning reminds me of KAT and that's not good at all. If he keeps beating down his body like he has he's likely to end up like Bird where the beating he put his body through shortened his career considerably.
I expect Dallas to play better at home but Boston is capable of playing better as well especially on offense. Tatum has mostly been playing as the 6-9 point guard driving to the paint where he either found the open man or tried getting to the FT line, scoring-wise he could definitely get better.
I'd also expect Boston to shoot better than the 26% from three from last night, as long as they keep up the defensive effort, they're good. I have a feeling that these next two in Dallas are going to be closer games than the first two were.
Brad Stevens really is this Boston team's real MVP. From a running the team aspect, he's been absolutely fantastic. He coached Tatum & Brown during their rookie contract years and he's found literally the perfect fits in players to surround those two with. Here's hoping that they just end it all on Friday, it really will come down to how much fight Dallas brings that night. While I never lost faith that Boston would hold onto the lead late in this game, the Mavs battled to the end.
Quite a turn around tonight. I thought Dallas would not roll over, but did not expect them to lead by 48 and win by 38. If tonight's performance by Dallas is not a one time event, this finals series may go more than 5 games.
It will be interesting to see how Boston plays in game 5.
